FX air guns

Oakenhawk,

The Crown is a (comparatively)reliable(fewer parts and orings) and very flexible platform for learning what(or if) you want to specialize on. It is very easy to adjust(turning knobs) to shoot a wide variety of ammo at different power levels. It has the "feel" of shooting a rifle(as opposed to a bull-pup with vibrations and noises under your chin/by your ear). Very easy and quick(less than 5 minutes) to change barrel length/liners/caliber. Barrel/caliber change kits are about $400 instead of having to buy a new gun. It is easy to set up this 1 gun to shoot any combination of calibers(.177, .22, .25, or .30) with slugs or pellets, out of any combination of barrel lengths(380mm, 500mm, 600mm, or 700mm) at almost any power level(sub12 ft/lb to over 1100fps, depending on ammo) with changes that take less than 5 minutes. Also, now there are a lot of choices for stocks/chassis.

Impact will always have a magazine count and power advantage(the Crown MK2 has closed the gap a bit) and possibly better really long range accuracy, but it comes with the price of many more parts and orings which MAY have to be attended to. And it is a bull-pup "feeling" gun.

Wildcat(lower shot count because of smaller air cylinder) and Maverick(kind of in between a Wildcat and an Impact) are(capable of slightly higher power than Crown)options with less parts/orings than Impact, if you don't mind bull-pup feel.

Dreamlines are sweet shooters and just about as flexible, but are a little less powerful than the Crown and IMO, a little less refined "feeling" to shoot, especially with respect to the side lever action.

All are great guns and personal preferences, economics, and particular usage will weigh heavy on most people's final decision.

Happy choosing
