FX .25 Wildcat Hammer Spring Adjuster

This is the PEGASSUS AUTO RACING (16mm x 1.00 thread) Banjo Bolt in all of it's bright red glory. They sell for $12 to $16 online. For months I've been searching for ANYTHING in the rare 16x1 size that I could fashion into a power adjuster. This fit the bill and actually works in the gun perfectly without any alteration, right down to the "spring cup" in the end which fits the FX spring almost perfectly.

The only problem is that this thing is VERY large and neon red wasn't my first color choice for an accessory on an all black gun. After turning the bolt head down to a round, knurled knob I decided it was still too long so I cut it down to a shorter length getting rid of the knob altogether. I touched up the spring cup more to my liking with a 5/8" round tipped burring tool and gave the whole thing a nice sanding, followed by a coat of semi gloss black. The stock alteration was done freehand with a Dremel and a 1/2" sanding drum...super easy. The Wildcat synthetic stock cut like butter and it's solid all the way through.

It wasn't totally necessary but I came back later and added a 10-24 nylon tipped set screw to lock the power adjustment in place.

With the HUMA adjustable regulator and this spring adjuster, getting the gun even more accurate and in "harmony" should be easier than ever!

Thanks fellas,

Hi Guys,

And thanks fellas. Unfortunately I lack the skill (and a lathe) to produce these things in numbers. My idea of a "lathe" is to chuck something up in a drill and free handing it with a Dremel! Out of the box, this thing is literally "plug n' play" though, I was shocked how well it worked unmodded. It's just butt ugly and too big so I cut the head off, smoothed it down and squirted it black...that's all there was to it. Sylvan also had a good idea about how to give it more resistance against slippage.

Crusher- Been to your area a few times watching Cowboy home games back in the day. I live NE of Austin about 20 miles, near the little town of Hutto.

Cheers,

I'm taking the grandkids to yellowstone park this next week in the motorhome. When I return and have a little time I'll turn some out on the lathe. Need to run to Boise to pick up some black high density plastic to make a run of single shot trays for another project so will get some to try for the adjusters. Alum would be my choice, but if the HD plastic threads up ok that would be another option and if for some reason you ever galled a thread it wouldn't damage the gun. sylvan

Sylvan,

The first one I made was done from some 5/8" white Delrin solid rod threaded with a M16x1 die. The die busted apart but at least I got enough done to make one power adjuster. Honestly, it works just as well as the aluminum one and if I had found a piece of BLACK Delrin to match the gun, I might not have gone to aluminum. I just wasn't sure how well the white Delrin would hold paint.

Phildog,

Looking at the exploded views of the Streamline and the Wildcat, they both use part #11030 for the spring adjuster in the lower powered guns and the #11541 for the .25 calibers. This tells me that M16x1 is your thread size if you've got a .25 caliber. I still think I'd send FX USA an email to be sure. These banjo bolts come in many different metric thread sizes.

See ya'

Perhaps a bit late but stumbled to this topic some weeks ago, as I also wanted to adjust the hamerspring on my FX Streamline and learned that the original bolt isn't so strong.

I needed to make sure I would have a better spare bolt if I would break mine.

This bolt isn't to be found easily and it led me to here. As I didn't want to do the Dremmel part I continued my search. I found this company BelMetric.com, the have the perfect bolt, it is perfectly fitting the Streamline and is very cheap compered to above solution. The only thing you need to do is shorten it, but I can imagine that they can supply a shorter version too when you call them. Because I am living in The Netherlands I just bought their regular one. The price I paid was 7,97USD and my freight to The Netherlands was 9,99USD. USA residence would probably pay a lot less. This is their code if you would be interested SS16X1.0X20FLAT.

I hope that I help some people with this message. Eric from The Netherlands 👍
