That's excellent shooting. I like the way you describe the cocking action. It sounds as precise as a Swiss watch.

Super reliable accurate and quiet boring to shoot due to their superior accuracy and ease of cocking all day long. The cheap Crosman 7.4gr pointed (NOT the 7.9gr super points) are worth trying as well. May even go cheap and get the 1250 count milk cartons.

Mine did too, especially the older batch that ended in 009. My Universal shot them at 700 fps and other 7.87s at about 660. Go figure. I used it in a few FT matches and did quite well. Long targets sometimes would not fall even if hit, but the close ones were like fish in a barrel.

Thing is no 2 seem to shoot the same speed. I have seen variamces up to just shy of 720fps while others were in their upper and mid and low 600s and may I add freshly rebuilt. The last one I recently bought that was freshly rebuilt shot in the 640s.

Not sure what mine is shooting at, I need a chrony. This morning I shot at 40 yards and the rifle delivered! The circles are quarter sized. Later on I’m going to mount my aluminum plate that’s on a different rifle, it slides into a grove on the underside of the fore stock and helps it be really stable on the front bag. I’m needing more magnification for 40 yards, it only has a 3x9 and my eyes are sort of crappy.

Get a Leupold VX3i 6.5-20x40AO EFR to keep the weight down. Fantastic optics for cheap considering what you get in optical greatness on a light weight scope for around $600 when shopping smart for this not which retails for just under $1000.00.

Hi Dave, look like you and the 300 are bonding fine. With better glass the holes will get smaller. The old guys got it right the first with the 300's. Enjoy your new toy.

Both of my 300's shoot better with JSB Match pellets in either heavy or middle weight.
Don't discount aperture sights, once you find the front aperture size you like for the particular range and get your technique down these old rifles can shoot some tiny groups. I have two 300S's and a 601 and all have aperture sights. Just purchased another 300S that should be here Monday, it is wearing a scope but will probably end up with apertures.

I like the Leupold EFR scopes so much I have two of them. The one on the custom Steyr LPS pistol is forever rooted there. I just took the other one off the HW44 and put it on the FWB300 mini. Also I mounted the aluminum plate that attaches to the fore stock. It’s extremely stable and I’m hitting a little spinner regularly at 40 yards, missing a lot too because it’s really windy lol, so no pictures of groups today. The extra magnification is just what I needed, at 20x you can get the crosshairs in a pellet hole. I just can’t get over how cool these rifles are. I wish I could use the original sights but my eyes have a terrible time with anything other than a scope and that’s too bad because I would enjoy off hand shooting.
