FWB Sport .177

Hello, I"m new to this forum, and I'm hoping someone here can fill me in on the FWB Sport Pellet Rifle in .177 cal. Even though I have posted on on another website it seems nobody has any idea, as nobody has replied to my post. I want to purchase the FWB Sport from champions choice, they have them listed for $495.00. Everywhere else it's 2-$300.00 more. So I figure it's a great deal. On the other hand I own the Diana 430L, another great deal from AOA, and a number of HW's I purchased from Krale, totalling 6 from them. I'm just wondering if I already have the best for my $$ with the HW's, which include the HW97 Black Line, a HW 97L, HW77 in .177 and 22cal., HW 85 22 cal & HW50S 177.

I think what your seeing is the rifle didn't sell very well at the price it was offered at and so the price at CC is very good and could be it value long term

so do you need another rifle, well that's a question I have asked myself for a long while do I need another airgun

it seems that the FWB did, does have some teething problem but if remember they are small

here some posts, there are more just Google the rifle

this hobby is more about want then need but then it is a hobby and it is also a buy to try sort of thing

good luck

take care

Hi Mike, thank you for the reply, I had seen that post but paid no attention to the date, which was 5 years ago. Also I see now that the price is even lower than when the post was written. Do I need another air rifle, is like do I need another model 41, or another AR. I have OCD, does that answer your question??? It all started with a $60.00 CO2 pistol, and morphed into a sudden addiction which has me with 6 pellet rifles. The next was the Diana 430L from AOA. I enjoyed it enough and when I read in another forum about Krale, well it was off to the races. I will purchase the FWB Sport, even though it sounds like the 30mm cylinder makes it a beast in the kicking department. Having the HW97, 77, soon to be joined by the 85 and 50S. My HW77 so far is my favorite, with the open sights, I have an easier time than with a scope, but the rear sight is so far up the barrel, I'm tempted to pull it all the way back to make sighting even easier for me.

Plus I have checked into getting the HW77 Diopter model, which has some really nice diopter sight. Also an HW97L.

Right now if I could do the past month over again, I would have skipped the HW97s. I had wondered what the numbers meant and then found that quite a few are so similar power wise, even my Diana 430L burys the pellet in a 4x4 as deep as my HW77 and HW97. Well I thank you again and I will pick up that FWB Sport as soon as CC Comes back from their holiday break. Did you know if you order 2 rifles from Krale the shipping fee does not change?

Thanks again, Jim

I have had a FWB 124 - the older brother to the Sport - for about 35 years and it is a fantastic walkabout plinking and pesting rifle. I considered getting a Sport when they came out but IMHO they were way over priced.

I (strongly) suggest that you try a FWB 300 - I have a scope on mine and use it for plinking and pesting (out to 20-25 yards ...1/4 inch groups) all summer and in the winter the aperture sights go back on for 10 meter target shooting in the basement. The 300 is EXTREMELY accurate, it is very calm to shoot, easy to cock and the trigger is incredible.

Cheers!

I will keep an eye out for one, but seeing the used one's at $500.00, if I can't see it in person, I would not take the chance. I really think the HW77 Diopter will really be a sweet one. Don't forget I don't have the K Version which has a shorter barrel

I have a 4 Feinwerkbau airguns and really like them but between the Sport and the HW77 I would probably go for the Weihrauch. The FWB 300 is in a totally different class - wouldn't part with mine for love nor money! Be sure to try one if you ever get the chance.

The Weihrauchs are great - my favorite rifle is my .22 HW 100 FSB (a PCP) and I am thinking of getting a HW 30S for general shooting and plinking.

If you are looking to try another brand of springer you might want to consider the Air Arms TX200. They are excellent rifles, beautifully made and very accurate. The only comment I would make about them is that they are heavy - which is good for stability when shooting but more than I would like to carry in the field for hunting.

Lots of excellent rifles out there - have fun making your choice!

Good to know you can get a FWB Sporter for what it should have sold for. I bought a FWB 124D is 1979. Not a Beeman , but bought through Air Rifle Headquarters. That company dropped out long ago. The rifle is in very good condition , almost like new. It was rebuilt in 2016 , with a new spring and piston seal. Dime size groups or less at 25 yards is easy. My new HW35E can't do any better. If springer accuracy is your goal , I really liked my Diana 54 Air King. Heavy , and I shot it from a tripod or bench. Recoiless , like the FWB 300 , but with more power. A lot more power.

Thank you for your reply, I watched some video's and read some reviews, I have no problems with my 39 pounds of pull needed to operate some of my underlever rifles, but for some reason this looks awkward to me, plus holding onto that lever while loading the pellet, wish I knew where to go to try one of these out, I also see they say this is a scope eater, I'm using the Diana bullseye mount on a few of mine, even though my scopes are air gun rated. We will see, since PA has the lowest price as their free shipping edges out AOA, I was ordering the FWB Sport from there, but have been having nothing but problems trying to get my credit card to work on their site. Also have the same issue with AOA's site. Now you tell me, I have ordered 4 or more from Krale in the Netherland's, and my card works all the time with the same address info input. Well I have some time to decide whether to go for the 54 or the Sport, my negative on the 54 is the 9lbs. But I must keep in mind it's only 12 ounces heavier than the sport. Plus I know if I go with the RWS I will go with the 22 version. What do you think of the HW77 with that diopter sight? That sight set up would be killer on the HWS 54.

Hi. I have owned and shot the new model FWB Sport for about 4 years. It has worked perfectly with no issues whatsoever.

It is a very accurate rifle but on the down side the spring is a bit twangy. Also be mindful that it is 19 joules which places it over 12ftlb.

Mine is definitely a keeper. Feel free to drop me a PM if you want more information. Cheers.

Thank you for the input Richardo, I just received my 2nd HW77 this one in .22 cal. Cleaned the barrel, shot some 14.3 grain HP ammo, the only stuff I could find locally, shot maybe 30-40 shots, and ended up with some very fine groups, that were hole in hole. I felt good for having just started shooting springer's, knowing how hold sensitive they are, and yet I tried a few different ways, and found the most important thing for me was the squeeze. I think when I get the Diopter model, it's going to be even more fun and accurate for me to shoot. Soon I will have to take it to a range where I can get her sighted in at 25-50 yards. Even though I only plan on plinking, no rabbit's squirrels or birds for me. Skunks, possums and coyotes are fair game. Maybe a big old racoon.

I’ve got that feeling again, you know the $$$ feeling. I’ve always wanted a FWB and now that the price has come down I think it maybe time for one. As I was looking around I seen Pyramid Air has a spring and seal and the SportsMatch mount. Does anyone know if the spring and seal are upgraded improvements or just the regulars because they are from FWB?
