FWB FWB 300 facelift posts ..Pics

Fender honestly I use black MarksALot . works like a charm . It looks like hell till I seal it ...I use TruOil thinned down . Then when its cured I just bub it with a old towel and it takes the shine down a little ...Brown grips I just color it in with Black ...The brown ones look coo if there is just a ton of figuring but usually its pretty plain in the grip area.
I totally sanded down one grip to remove all the stippling but I won't do it again .It just left it too thin and I'd be afraid it could snap off dropped . but its why the guy wanted .

Well Joe I got a chance to shoot the FWB 300 at 35+ yards. At that distance after a scope adjust it hits where I aim it. Now that can be good and bad since I can't blame the rifle when I miss. I understand now how you could get rid of your PCP rifles for close in target practice. I was just shooting off of the deck rail on a towel so no target posting until I put it on the bench. Goodness they have a sweet trigger.

Probably mark . There's only a few that are deep .The rest I'll sand till its smooth . Usually takes a good sanding to get all of the factory seal off anyway . I'm excited to see how the sprter comes out !! Both have good seals and springs . Just gotta polish up everything inside and lube properly .
Both gonna have to have cocking handles sanded down to get out pits . Rest of the rifles I may can polish out freckling .
I'll have them done by the Dallas Airgun show . I'm gonna take them there with me

Ok Joe, since I'm looking at a FWB 300s, I'm going to hijack your post a little!

I'm looking at the 300s from your referral and I have a few questions.
1. In your first pictures, your rifle didn't have a moderator, but later did. How difficult was it to add the moderator, and how much did it cost?
2. Are the 300s very loud?
3. Is this rifle better than a new Walther LVG Master Pro? I can get one of them in 11.8ftlb or 17ftlb for $467, basically the same as the FWB. I haven't shot either, and there's no one around me that I can find that has either! Are the FWB's really that nice and higher quality than the Walther or Weihroach?

This is for paper targets and plinking, not hunting.

Thanks for letting me hijack your thread!
Chris

Well I got the Moderators from DonnyDu . Its more of a muzzle cover where the front sight normally goes ...When you take off the sight its kinda funky looking ..
No the 300 rifles aren't loud at all and very easy to cock .
Whether it's " better " is a personal choice honestly . Both are fairly heavy , both are known as very accurate and well built . The 300 series for me personally I like better than a break barrel . But its more complicated inside and if you like drop it in water puddle or something its gonna need to. E stripped and lotta guys don't like the idea of that . I have personally received SEVERAL rifles the owners took apart and couldn't get back together . It is honestly not that hard , but there are a lot of parts .
The Walther would be brand new . You never know what a 300 is like till you tear it down ...But they last 100s of thousands if not millions of shots and that's NOT an exaggeration .
Post a thread and ask opinions from guys who own both ....You would get a better opinion that way . I'm very partial to my particular rifle so I'm Biased ...
There is a guy here who had that Walther and he said it was incredible .

@Robinsoncr; no moderator needed on the FWB, it's super silent so there's no need for supressing it. It will only have a negative influence on the rifle's amazing accuracy IMHO.

Is it a better rifle than a LGV? Well, the FWB 300 won Olympic championships back in it's glory days. A fixed barrel is always more accurate than a break barrel, and the FWB is built for match shooting. You do the math. 😉

I've come to love this vintage rifle over all other break barrels, side levers and bottom cockers I've owned in the past 30 years.

Well might as well stick this in the thread that started the FWB 300 madness for me. On the way out to run the weedwacker I noticed an old target I had printed and since it was laying there beside a 300ft tape.............. :) I used 33 feet of it to set up a 10 meter target.(I've shot a lot of targets over the years but not one at 10 meters. There was a little breeze but not much. Of course I know you use I couple of shots to sight in the rifle that close but I didn't touch the scope until after shot 10 and then it was just a couple of clicks. I see I need to work on my cheek weld with this rifle but its new to me so that will improve.
