Joe, is that one of the side cocking types? I really want to go that rout with my next purchase, but some guys say they don't like them....don't know why. What do you think?

Crosman , I'm not the most impartial guy when it comes to these rifles ..The side lever old school rifles are basically all I shoot anymore . For me personally they offer some nice features . 1 you don't have to pick it up to cock and load it , so you don't have to loose your " spot" on the rest 2 Incredible accuracy . 3 recoiless and quiet , and just plain cool and fun ..
That being said , unless its a Diana 54 or 56 its honestly very weak power wise ... The Diana 54+56 guns use the same basic principle but are nowhere near as refined . However they are Powerful but they also are Hard to cock , weigh a ton , and are known as scope killers .
If you would like give me a shout sometime . I'm always up for talking old school guns. They are a fun specialzed type gun , but definitely not a " Swiss Army Knife " gun .

I was quite happy with the standard universal stock of the 300s. But then I saw a picture of LP gunstocks. They aren't made for the 300. So tried it myself shameless copy of the lp gunstock. Made from the standard universal 300 stock.
Could be worse I think. Like so many others I blame Joe for infecting me with the fwb healthy addiction. Many happy thanks for that Joe.

Hey Joe, I'm not going to read all 17 pages of comments to your original post so I'm just gonna ask.....how the devil can you focus on the target with that shooting table? lol.

Been a while since there any FWB 300 rebuild posts so heres one of mine.
Started as a left handed 300s universal stock, I got it at a very good price because it had been subject to some catastrophic incident - its seals had turned to hard feta cheese, the compression tube cracked (!), and the anitbeartrap ratchet had snapped!! Luckily there was no evidence of thumb parts left inside so whatever happened caused injury to the gun only.
I managaed to source a new comp tube, and even though the rifle and replacement part could have been made decades apart with FWB's exquisite engineering they were a perfect fit with minimal clearance. New sealed, spring, and gently lubed it was back together and now one of the most accurate 300s ive shot!
The stock has some nice grain going on under the muddy factory finish, a job for another day, but has great shape - a nice sharp chiselled front and the flick of the comb at the grip. The butt pad is actually from a running boar / running target model and likely the closest ill get to finding one here in the deep, deeeeeep, south (New Zealand)

It is very satisfying when you achieve to bring back to life a neglected airgun. In this case, a true magnificent gun.

I have an LH FWB 300 I got from Joe years ago. Unfortunately it now has a crack at the rear of stock neck on the thin side moving down towards the grip. Hasn't spread but I have heard of drilling a small hole and adding a wood plug to reinforce. Anyone have experience with that?

with the wood that thin i would let someone do it , unless you just force glue into the crack and let it dry a few days or week .
