FWB 124 excellent shooter

Picked up a FWB 124 in trade a couple weeks ago. It was not firing and the owner wasn’t mechanically inclined. So I traded a couple of my operable air rifles for it. The exterior was in very nice condition, just a few dings in stock. Sure enough the seal was toast. Spring was still in really good shape. Rebuilt it yesterday. Mollied the piston at both ends. Vortek grease on the spring and reassembled. Attached are the first two groups after sight in with the little 4x15 blue ribbon scope that came with it (4x is not my preference). Was very impressed with 5 shot groups at 20 yards with FTT. Very nice, light, easy to cock shooter. The second group was 1/4” at 20 yards

Aren't they sweet guns? Nice score. I had to have one also.

Don't want to rain on your party but that's not a Blue Ribbon scope. It's a "Blue Ring" economical line Beeman offered.

When I had a local Beeman dealer they carried the Blue Ring line but not the Blue Ring. They offered the Bushnell Sportview Air rifle scopes as the more economical option. 4x32 AO or 3-9x32 AO.

In 1986 I bought the R10 and no preference for (gawdy )blue trim on my scope I opted for the Korean Bushnell 4 x 32 AO at $39.99. It actually held up very well. It rode several springers over the years. I still have it.

BTW I prefer the black and gold RWS Hakkos. That's what my 124 wears.

I missed out on one of those on Ebay. They were made in Korea...correct? Sold for $106. I know the Hakkos company was Japanese but I think that's who made the lenses.

Hako and their lenses are Japan. All RWS scopes are Not Japan. You want the early RWS that says Japan on it. They're not too common. Other companies sold Hakko manufactured scopes as well. The scope you refer to on eBag is not a Hakko. Hakko supplies lenses to some other manufacturers. If Hakko still exists I've heard it's not the same old Hakko.

I think they made the excellent Japanese Tasco top line scopes. Some of those were very good .. Gems. An airgunner had one and not knowing what he had gave a 2-7x 40 AO airgun Tasco to me for free. I gladly paid the shipping to help him get rid of the thing. He thought it was "just a Tasco". Tasco HAD some great airgun scopes.

Lol I didn't just get into airguns yesterday.

Have a Blessed Memorial Day Weekend

I have a hunch Light Optics took over Hakko then you know March Night Force High end Vortex JAPAN Athlon Sightron even though they insist they have their own exclusive factory.. Yea maybe in the Philippines maybe not HINT-Burris. those good old Japanese scopes in the 80s and 90s era are hard to beat even Marksman Hakko scopes and Marksman badged HW guns owned by THE Beemans SR Industries Mrs. Sachiko and Dr. Robert Beeman and it's just too bad there's no more lifetime warranty on those COLLECTORS Beeman Hakko scopes. I think they shifted over to KOREA to keep the cost down because of good ol American CAPITALISM. Those were the GOOD OLD DAYS... Yo!

Agree !! I had a few Beeman Blue Ribbon series scopes and loved them all. Durable and great glass !

I want the 124 Deluxe, which is the rifle with sling swivels, a cheek piece and a checkered pistol grip. Yours is the Sporter model very nice, great score!

Anyone sees the 124 deluxe custom select me know .

I've seen a few on ebay over the past few months. Saw a Beeman 124D with all paperwork that had Sellect wood, sellect group, sellect barrel angle, trigger shoe, custom Beeman sling, and other stuff I can't remember. It was in 98% condition overall. Think it sold in the $1200 range. Most of the D versions I see sell in the $500-$700 range.

Nice one went for 450 last week. Real nice w/sights. Weren't eBag though. Mighta needed a seal I forget. I paid 400 something for mine with a RWS Hakko. Stock's real clean. Needed a little oil to pick it up.

Keep your eyes open. There's lots of em out there

Interesting guns for sure. I would like to try one of the originals to compare it to the new version. They were available when I first got interested in "adult airguns" but expensive compared to the HW guns. And they still are! Sadly, this may be the end of the road for the FWB sporters. Too bad, because they got a lot right in my opinion.

I bought a FWB124D from ARH in 1978. Serial number 18866. It is in very good shape , despite many pellets fired through it. Back then , it was Beeman Silver Jets. I still have a box , but now it eats JSB 8.44's. The seal and spring were replaced by Pomona Air Guns , and it is back in service. Still one of my favorites. The picture looks exactly like my rifle.

I watch and bid occasionally on them but they just get to pricey for me to stay in the hunt.

You're a lucky man ! Great that you kept it. I lived in Pomona from 1960 to 1970.
