Fun day for me, bad day for pigeons

Went to visit a friend of a friend’s goat farm and upon arrival they were sitting on a wire. First question was, do you mind if I shoot the pigeons.

.22 short mutant with hades at 850 was the ticket. 20 to 60 yd shots.

Wrapped in bacon to make shishkabobs on the grill. I like them with bell pepper, onion, and mushrooms. Heavenly.

Should make great jalapeño poppers too. I do this often with quail and pheasant.

I de-bone them and cook them in a stew with onions,peppers,carrots,potatoes and plenty more southern ingredients.
It’s slap your mother-in-law good.

Tried a new recipe today. Pigeon burger. Yep. 70% deboned pigeon breast 30% bacon, season and grind.
They turned out great.
Top bowl is fresh beef from my steer,bottom bowl pigeon

It was very good. My brother , had never eaten pigeon, said he thinks it’s better than beef.
It tasted way less gamey than in the stew.
