FT sitting position——dead frog?

the South Africa ft folks sometimes use this position and so does Thomas,

just how the heck do you get into it safely, ha-ha, and

how do you see the target as it would be sideways in your brain

want to try it but unsure if it leads to mental instability

also do you use a bum bag under the front leg (new sexual position) for support to raise the front leg? recent pic of thomas

Dead Man position.

For most the scope position needs to go forward so as you drop your head into your lap over the right thigh scopes eye relief is met w/o excessive leaning over.

butt of the gun rests on the right knee/thigh then? buttstock braced above the elbow on the bicep....

What does moving the scope forward do to your standing (and assuming "normal") stance.

Gonna have to try this..... since I cant use the harness in WFTF.....

Allows you to rotate your body having rifle more sideways to your chest. ( think Bullpup shooting offhand ) For many this forward scope position allows with a sideways hold getting an elbow on the hip, or at minimum on the side of rib cage rather than quartering towards the front.

While I'm personally no longer shooting OPEN in the deadman position, but back to HUNTER on a stool and sticks, I'm still using the forward scope position because off hand shooting is so much more stable and adjusting ones siting position is easily done.

Looks like it could be pretty stable. And, whatever position one uses, one has to get used to it and work with it so as to be as stable as possible. Then there's the movement due to the heart beat, which no position (maybe not so much in Hunter Class?) is going to eliminate. One just has to work with that as well.

We all look for (and rightfully so) advantages that will give us the best score. There's no magic bullet though. It's about practice and more practice.

Enjoy your quests for becoming better shooters,

Chas
