Four rats today...

Went down to the dairy today about 2 pm, took my Bantam Sniper HR and my pp700sa. I have been having rats pop up at sub 20 yards, which for me are difficult shots with my Bantam. Set up both guns, the Bantam for my 40-45 yard kill zone and the pp700sa for all sub 20 yard shots. Shot two pigeons, one at 84 yards and one at 73 yards. Did not bother to recover them. Missed at least three shots on the pigeons on the wire at 84 yards. I kept making the wrong windage call. I would see the pellet just whiz by to the left of my intended pigeon. You can see the string on my barrel slanting left. After harassing the pigeons I set up for the rats. The first rat of the day presented itself at 14 yards, one shot later it was dead. Second rat was at 20 yards, it was feeding just a few yards further down than the first, this one required a second shot as my first was not fatal. The third rat I hit solidly, but watched it slither into the manure catcher before I could single load a pellet and pop it again. The fourth rat was almost incidental, I was scanning the dark areas under a disker and spotted the fourth rat. It did not alert at the green light. One shot later it was dead. I also missed a gimme shot on a rat at 15 yards. I wanted to smack myself. I was able to see two rats at my 45 yard kill zone with the Bantam, but did not get the right opportunity. I believe I saw seven rats and shot four, but always want to shoot more.

Nice shooting @l.leon. BUT....maybe I missed it, but I only count THREE rats, not four.

Blackpaw, you missed it...!😀

The third rat I hit solidly, but watched it slither into the manure catcher before I could single load a pellet and pop it again.

Some of the rats I shoot are so close to their holes that even fatally hit some are unrecoverable. Check out this one right at the head of its hole, where it caught a JSB Exact Jumbo 18 to the head.
