Four Of My Best Underlevers!

Thanks for sharing your underlevers.

My underlevers are a .22cal HW97kt and two .25 cal Hatsan Dominator carbine(the spring one, and the gas ram). The HW is all stock and I've never opened it up. I've had it for about 1.5yrs. The Hatsans I've had for a few months more and I've been all inside them and replaced the spring in the spring one, put in a top hat and washers. I shoot both the HW97kt and the spring Dominator just as accurately and I think I enjoy shooting the spring Dominator the most. The HW97kt and the spring Dominator are both about the same fpe. It took me a long time to build up my confidence with the spring Dominator. However, after a lot of target shooting, tuning and break-in, it has become a smooth and accurate shooting air rifle. I just wish the stock wasn't so ugly but I didn't buy it for looks. The gas ram Dominator is still challenging me; I might reduce the pressure in the gas ram sometime. Right now, I have it in pieces because some stray piece of sand or metal got in between the compression cylinder and receiver housing and jammed up the works as well as left a deep gouge in the receiver housing. So, I'm honing the heck out of it. Tough luck. That's something that gets me about underlevers with a sliding compression chamber- its possible to get foreign material in there and bugger up your gun but its not a deal breaker for me. I like the underlever platform.

I wish I had known more about Walther though. I probably would have bought an LGU instead of the HW97kt. I just didn't realize how high quality the LGUs are.

Thanks for sharing! Wish that I had an opportunity to shoot a LGU, l almost purchased a LGU Varmint! I also have two Hatsan underlevers the the 155 Torpedo and the 150 Sniper, but rarely get used anymore.

Happy Holidays!

Yeah, I couldn't warm up to the sliding barrel design of the Torpedo series. That was a major reason why I went with the Dominator instead.

I probably won't ever get a Walther LGU but I definitely want a LGV in .22 cal.

Yes, the Hastan Torpedo 155 and 150 Sniper are nowhere near as refined as my other underlevers. They are almost “tractor-like” in their operation. They were a early purchase when I was on my powerhouse magnum springer quest. Before I learned about or was willing to pay for a refined European springer. Although, they are 24fpe monsters, their slow, heavy, and clunky operation is something that I grew to find undesirable. They are now just utility guns rarely used and may even find themselves up for sale.
