Foster to Quick fill style for Daystate specifically Renegade

Okay, I have searched the forums and was unable to locate any information to my question. I also struggled with where to place this post. Does anyone have any recommendations or knowledge on the ability to replace the foster fitting with the quick fill (probe) style. I am looking to put a Huma regulator in my Daystate Renegade HP .25 and would like the ability to see the current pressure in the gun. Most of the probe style quick fills have a manometer on end so that would accomplish my goal. Along with the benefit of making it easier to fill. Also what is the advantage or disadvantage of the probe fill over the foster fitting. Any help would be fantastic and I fall on the knowledge of everyone on this forum.

Thanks for the help,

You could put a T fitting on the end where the foster fitting currently sits, but that would be ugly and cumbersome. On my .22 Renegade with Huma I just don’t worry about tube pressure. I fill it to 250 bar, and when it drops to the reg setting I fill it again. Knowing how many shots per fill helps. There is no advantage to quick fill probe over foster. In fact, foster is easier more reliable and you don’t require additional equipment.

Centercut, thanks for the response. I read your thread concerning your regulator upgrade. I almost posted this question there but did not want to hijack your thread. So thought I would create a new one. Nice job by the way. So I am going to hijack my own thread. Have you seen a noticeable improvement with the regulator on the .22. I think the idea of a lower power gun not needing the regulator is correct. The higher FPE guns I almost think is a must. I have seen some pretty dramatic swings and without counting each and every round I venture past the sweet zone. I sent Hubb a question concerning the regulator and did not really get a detailed response. He said he changed the design after your experimentation. I could not really get an answer as to what that really means. So if I bought the Wolverine .303 regulator stateside will it be the same as what he is selling now. I have found a couple locations selling it but not sure if it is the new design. If there really is one. Also my gun is pushing .25 at nearly 1k FPS. Which I have got to feel is on the verge if not there for an unstable flight. Let me know what you think.

Yeah, I think you would benefit from the Huma reg on your HP. It lets you fill to 250 bar and shoot down to reg set pressure without having to worry about sweet spots. The Huma for Wolverine C is the same diameter and same set up with Orings as the Renegade. I think if you bought the .25 version it may reduce your power somewhat but that’s not a bad thing. The .303 one will take up more space and reduce shot count but maybe not the power of your gun. If you get the .25 and are not satisfied you can always order just the larger plenum. The reg Huub developed is for the regular Renegade like mine. If you shoot the 25 gr JSBs you’ll probably still get 950 fps or so. With the heavies you may no longer get up around 900 fps. This is all just speculation of course. My recommendation is to go with the .25 for Wolverine C. I’m not sure what Daystate did with the new regulated Renegade. Maybe wait and see what they used? But for now the Wolverine C in .25 should work.

Yeah such is my life always just a little to early on my purchase. I knew I should have waited until after shot show, oh well. So if I am understanding you correctly just go ahead and get the huma for the Wolverine C .25 which has not changed and I should be able to get here in the states. Also does your renegade fore grip slide side to side. It is driving me insane. I have taken it down and it only has two small hooks that are supposed to hold it in place. Trying to use it with a bipod is extremely frustrating. It is not a huge amount of wiggle maybe a quarter inch on each side but for the price of the gun I expected more.

I noticed it when I got it which was a very very short time ago. Have not been able to actually shot but a couple rounds (10) due to a bad valve on the new tank. Because I was unable to shoot, I started researching the regulators for the gun. I took it out of the case again and again noticed the issue. I contacted the dealer who said you have to push hard to get it to lock into place. Well, I have done that and a list of other ideas that came to mind from the dust cap to the order of the bolts to holding my head sideways with my tongue out. It will not lock into place and for the price of the gun, I just can not put it out of my mind along with the issue it will cause with a bipod. I am also not going to modify the stock in anyway and I should not have to. So it is going to take a trip back to its original home. I can not say I am happy about it but not sure if I will be getting a replacement or another rifle. What do you all think I should do. Is there a better rifle, I do have a little heartburn over some of the plastic as well. It does not appear the plastic was molded/injected all that great. What do you think?
