Forum sponsorship to speed it up!

Okay! I am willing to sponsor this forum at a set rate, per year. I do it for many other forums. Bladeforum, for one. I think it is $25 a year to post photos directly to the site, etc., etc.

Honestly? As slow as this is it took me close to 10 minutes to get here, to post this. I want this forum to be successful, as I enjoy the content and learn from others. That saves me money in the long run.

Anyone else willing to sponsor the forum, to speed it up?

Good way to kill a forum. What WE the users offer is already worth more in advertising dollars to the owners than the drop in activity by charging for access.

Bad idea, although I understand the sentiment. What you will end up with is the unintended consequences and a forum that will essentially be all ads, even the posts. And THAT is bad enough already, don't you think? JMHO

Servers, hosting services, databases, etc. will drive you insane. Don’t get me started on the nightmares I deal with at work every day. My point is, these slowdowns are more than likely beyond Michael’s control. He’s probably stuck with just notifying his providers, and waiting for them to find a solution. That being said, it would be cool to have a way to support the forums, something like a “Buy Michael a Beer” Patreon account.

I also agree with BackStop. Unfortunately I have watched some other forums I belong to or have belonged to begin with premium subscriptions etc. and soon after, devolve into a constant increase in raised fees and new "premium services" at additional cost. It either becomes prohibitively expensive or you aren't in with the "cool kids". Sadly none of these forums are any better off for the fees. Same poor moderators, arrogance, slow speeds, lack of action for requested features and... as they always had. I would love to be part of the solution and would be willing to help THIS forum in a meaningful way. It is not inexpensive to run a forum in terms of finance or time. I would hate to see our community here follow the model that many others have. We need to learn from the operational experiences of others.

The more likely solution to any monetary issue here is in making manufacturers aware of how many dedicated members are active and getting them involved. I know that when I see company owners and representatives provide honest feedback and or demonstrate accountability here, I will do all I can to support them with my purchases.

Actually, I usually go direct to the websites, but now that you have made the point I will definitely start going to the various retailers through the links here on AGN!

I didn't consider that, but will go through clicking here to access sponsor sites going forward.

I honestly never considered this either, but it makes total business sense. I'll start to do this moving forward. I'm sure these advertisers ask for the metrics on the click throughs to their website and that can be a basis for the cost of advertising.
