Does a dead (recently shot) skunk scare other skunks away? Obviously, I'd rather not go out in the dark to immediately remove a dead skunk. Will others still come in?
What Bob- Os vids when he was shooting skunks ? .My cousin watch's his security cameras & have killed them back to back within a hour so I don't believe it make a difference if you leave a dead one laying out . Myself I'd wait till morning to be safe your wife may not like you haha
I leave skunks alone unless acting funny. Skunks dig up yellow jacket nests and eat them. I read that a possum can eat up to 5000 ticks in a night. They get a pass too. I don't like ticks or yellow jackets. Now, raccoons are another story.
I have a shed on an adjacent property that under which skunks like to domicile. I started sticking killed skunks under it in an effort to deter them. Business as usual!
Two days ago I was watching a skunk eating pecans. I read up on skunk and during warmer weather, they mostly eat insects, spiders, bugs....but when it gets cold and there are no bugs, they'll eat whatever they can get their hands on and this is including chickens.
Last winter I heard a loud racket one night out behind the house. It was a Feral Cat and a Skunk arguing who was going to get to eat a dead gopher I had killed earlier that day. The Skunk won and drug it off to it's lair.
