fixed shroud for FX Impact

"kris"for that kind of money I would expect all metal, why don't you guys make them from titanium?
Carbon fiber is hardly a cheap option. CF products are usually expensive.

Why would you want titanium on an LDC? It's heavy and expensive. It's usually used when a lighter stronger alternative to steel is needed. It's much heavier and harder to machine than aluminum.

CF has the best strength to weight ratio and looks good.

I was talking about finished cf products, not the raw materials (although those cf tubes are still more expensive than aluminum or plastic tubes). Cf is found on many high end luxury goods including hyper cars and some of the most expensive rifle stocks. There was a guy selling cf stormtrooper helmets for $3500 - $5000 not that long ago and they all sold immediately.

Cf is not only associated with high end products, it's properties are superior to titanium, aluminum and plastic for an LDC. The only scenario where you might be better off with Titanium is if you wanted to increase the weight and make it front-heavy (e.g. For a benchrest gun).

There is a world of difference between lego plastic and carbon fiber. Cf is one of the strongest / lightest materials on the planet when made right.

Zebra I am not sure where you get the Ti is heavier than CF idea from, because of its strength you can use very thin wall Ti and when used like that it is no heavier than CF. Titanium is not a heavy metal at all, it has great strength and is lighter than steel. I have made LDC's in aluminum, carbon fiber and Titanium, when you take the finished weight of them after machining, the differences between them is negligible. Ti is expensive compared to the other 2 options that is why I stopped using it, plus it is a lot harder on your tooling than aluminum and harder to machine and get a nice finish, just my 2 cents for what it is worth, Neil.
