First squirrel of season(slow motion)

It was kind of chilly today but I got out before the rain and got my first squirrel of the season. The shot was at about 40 yards and slightly windy. I used the .30 Fx Bobcat and even though not perfect placement the .30 made an instant kill. I stopped the video, but started it quickly again to get the acrobatic death twitch. As a note all game is taken legally with proper hunting licence.
I think I will try and crockpot him and use the meat in a stew or something like that.


Here is a picture of the shot placement. The pellet exited out the other ear.

 
Yes the .30 is pretty impressive. I ended up getting a second squirrel after I posted this off camera. He was in a bad position but I know the
30 was up to the task. The distance was 32 yards.

Entry was in the back hind quarter on his left side.



It went through the leg and back into body and up through lungs.




It then went through the base of his skull and came to rest under eyelid on opposite side of body.





It pretty much pasted through the entire length of the squirrel. Here is the recovered pellet that just popped out from under eyelid.

It was really good, and there was enough meat for three good sized sandwiches.

Linsfreak- your missing out, best way I can describe is kind of like dark meat chicken. It mainly depends on their diet. Hopefully someone else can give their opinion about the taste.

Thank ajshoots , hope you are able to get a few with the new .30 marauder.
