First shots with Puncher Breaker

Hi,

had my first shots with my new Puncher Breaker.. Had given the barrel a good clean (very little grunge came out so barrel was nowhere near as oily as I had expected based on other reports).

Trooped off to the local target club and proceeded to do an initial sighting in of scope at 10 metres. First problems - ran out of both elevation and windage on my cheapo 6-24x50 scope. Had to shoot using some holdover. Other than this the gun is LOUD !! We are not allowed any form of silencing/shrouding in Australia to lessen noise....

The trigger is a bit too stiff for me (don't have any means of measuring) so will need to adjust it.

Local gunsmith suggested I rotate the mounts from left to right to see if that corrected the windage, (mounts are apparently pretty crappy, but can't afford to replace them yet, he also gave me a bit of shim to put under that back of the scope to try to adjust the elevation. Seems I also had the scope mounts tightened up way too much, so have loosened them.

Now to wait until Friday night for a re test...

The barrel is bare - even shrouded would only be decorative as any form of quieting is illegal here.

!0 metres is close, but I would like to have that option as I will often be shooting indoors....outside the max range will generally be 50 metres....However it will be a while before I get there, as a newbie to shooting trying to get a 10 at 10 metres is hard enough :)

Well, second night shooting with the Puncher breaker......Rotating the mounts for the scope and shimming the scope cured the inability to align scope to gun. I also lightened the trigger as far as is safe and tried to shoot some groups at 20 metres. Dang this shooting is HARD, the best I managed is shown in the following 5 shot 20 metre groups - target size 1 5/8".

Still trying to find the best way of holding the rifle and releasing the trigger to get consistency/accuracy......

cheers

Gary,

The best mod I did to me PB (can't remember who posted it here on AGN) was to make an adjustable butt plate. Gun fits fantastic now. Just used some plate alum and some old scope mounts. Out of pocket cost - ZERO

With a 6-24 scope I am zeroed at 22yards. I have to lower my magnification down to 20 and then use my lower post as my 10yd POA. I zero at 22yds as then my dead hold for hunting is 18-44 yds where my POI is no more then 1/2" high or 1/2" low

My gun has the JSAR cocking lever and sear and it is sweet now, The sear did need a bit of polishing (actually wound't go into the gun as received due to tool marks) but is perfect now.
