Rat hit list 2018

This is all that was left of the last one I got the next am. The raccoon comes by and cleans it up.

Sad hunt last night. I stayed out from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. and only saw 2 rats come out for a peek and run back into their holes. I baited several areas and ranged them but no takers. The only thing I was able to shoot was a cockroach in the head because I was bored. These guys are smart. I heard them squeaking all night. They were probably communicating with each other saying "I wouldn't go out there if I were you". Oh well, what's another wasted night.

After last night's fiasco, (Read post above) I redeemed myself and shot 2 of them tonight with one of them being my trophy rat. The first one I shot was from 3 feet away. The second one was from 7 feet away. I couldn't even use my scope and they were shot using point shooting just using the LDC to line up the shot. The Neil Clague LDC keeps things really quiet! I'm good for the night. Glem, I broke out the tape measure this time.

Not trying to compete with some of those monsters pictured, but I shot this guy while he was sitting 30 ft up in a tree. I watched him run up, hide behind a branch, and then make the mistake of peeking out to see if it was safe...it was not.

Used a Marauder Pistol, and a ATN 3x14 X-Sight II (it was a little after mid-night). No mods other than the AR stock conversion, and a Magpul handguard.

"gatorboots"South Louisiana here...where do you guys find these dang rats. Maybe we just don't see as many, but I've staked out my chicken coupes and all...no sighting.
I stake out a buddies maintenance shop at a golf course every couple of months . They keep seed in there so it's an endless supply of food for them .
Unfortunately, the are most active at night, and even more early in the AM hours. I never make it that long . I've sat until a little after 0100, but I'm pretty much asleep behind the scope at that point .
I have a couple of contacts through relatives to get into some Barnes, but dang it man, I like my sleep .

Gatorboots, I was raised in South Louisiana also (BelleChasse) for town. Lots of rats there. I targeted them as a kid with my Benjamin model 337 pump up. Do you know how to spot there sign? Here in NC I watch for there holes, trails and food source then bait those suckers with cat food. They will be on it at dusk for your hunt. If you have night equipment I'm done hour after sundown. I have to hold back or my colony gets shot out to quick. Those furry creatures are everywhere, you just have to help your hunt sometimes with a little extra.

You guys enjoy your rat hunt tonight.

Well failed effort last night, was juuust about to go in and I saw a big one along the back wall. Waited a minute or so and he was not far in front of me, took the shot and it didn't sound like a hit. Strange, he slinked away never to be seen again not a drop of blood.

I hope he comes back today, checked my zero just now and it's about 1/8th off it really should have hit. Ah well I'll get him sooner or later, looked around the same size as the last one I got. Big but not Guam big ;)

Can I join in?? New here and mainly because of my .22 FX Streamline, but this from today using my .177 Crosman pump (8 pumps) at about 10 yards...... This muther jumped and ran about 10 feet, squeaked and end of this story! Looks like a lung/heart shot and pellet went right through.
2nd image showing exit! Body about 9 inches and 14 including tail... nasty!
