Hi guys, 
Just got my first pcp, the Synrod. I have been wanting it since they first came out. I just finally decided I needed it. I got it in 177. Its replacing my worn out nitro piston break barrels. Anyways, it is for pesting. Mostly starlings,sparrows,pigeons, and rockchuck. I would like to install a regulator to increase my shot count, so I can stay in the field longer. What reg would you suggest. I would install at home.
Also It seems this riffle likes 10gr pellets. Atleast out of what I have run threw it, these Gamo silent cats are just what I have laying around.
I would like to find some conical pellets at 10gr. All I have found are JSB Diablos at 13.
I think I would like to try HN Rabbit Magnums. Has anyone used these in a Mrod? Ive read and seen videos of these run threw a FX 22 and 25s and it seems to be a better pellet design, and acts more like a bullet than a traditional pellet.They seem to spiral to stabalize, have flatter flight, and keep a higher velocity down range comparitivly?

Well I want to stay at the 10gr weight. I was/am looking for a conical bullet shape in that weight, i just cant find any. I have some premier 7.9s and the gun didnt seem to like them much. i tried RWS Superpoints at 8.2-.4.. I was really hoping it would love those as I have an abundance. My springer loves them. Was hoping they would share the same diet. Next time im at wally mart i'll grab the heavier premiers. LOL i dont ever want to go back to single loading! maybe for a F&T match but i dont think anyone in this states does that with pellet guns

I've used both, and they both accomplished the same thing. Only thing with the o rings, it seemed to change the tune in warmer temps, probably due to the softening of the o rings due to higher temps. A Huma or Lane regulator would be appropriate, both very easy to install. The heavier domed pellets are the way to go, JSB, Air Arms, H&N Sniper Heavy. Rabbit Magnums don't seem to shoot well in a lot of barrels, as they have an extremely tight fit.

Thanks Xbow I think i will give the orings ago first. Guess i need to get that bullet shaped pellet idea out of my head. Think I will put in an order for some 10gr pellets. I'll give the ones mentioned a go. I imagine they will be better than this old tin of gamo's. Is it worth making a hammer power adjuster, replacing with heavier spring or lightening the valve spring? Do the same valve mods on the crosman C02 valves cross over to the pcp?

Ok Thanks Guys. I have a plan of attack now. I need to get a chrony. I think i'm going to try the oring trick. I already have some laying around... I will be putting in an order for some 10gr pellets. I dont know if i will get any real trigger time til march, the weather is really moving in. In the meantime i plan on getting this riffle tuned the best I can in regards to FPS/FPE... This gun is going to need a paint job aswell. Thanks again for the advice

"isaacrm1"Installing a regulator is not going to increase you shoot count, you might have 1 to 3 extra shoots but that's all, depending on the FPS you tune it for....
The regulator has a different function.
I recommend the HUMA regulator, I have one for mine .22 marauder, also I recommend you a hammer forge barrel.

How many shots are you getting without a regulator in a MRod .177? Is it over 100? I put an audrius regulator ($60) in my Gen 1 .177 MRod and got over 110 shots at 18fpe. Just a little bit of additional work using nothing but hand tools and a drill press.

I am debating using the O-ring debounce trick vs the DeBounce Device. Ive done the oring thing in an old 13xx

On the Gen2, the debounce is built in at the factory. I understand there are ways to make it better, but it's really unnecessary. I have a Gen2 in .22, and it's accurate with the right tune out to around 75 yards. Haven't been able to get much past that on my gun. Best long range tune is about 830FPS with JSB Exact Jumbo at 18.3 gr pellets. Only get 20 sots per fill, but getting around 1.5 inch groups at 75 yards.

This is where a regulator can be kind of limiting. If you properly tune the gun, you should get however many shots Crosman says using the 14.3 grain Premier Domes shooting around 830FPS. In my case, because it's a .22, that is listed at 30 shots and when tuned appropriately, I get 30 shots. The gun prefers a heavier pellet for distance, so uses more air. 20 shots with the 18.3 shooting at 830FPS. If you put a reg in, you really give up a lot of the tuning ability of the Marauder. The only tune you have left after adding a regulator is to adjust the transfer port. Think carefully before adding a regulator.

I have a 177 srod too. If I were you I would get a chrono and check it out. Mine came shooting JSB 10 about 950fps. yeah, that is too hot. I went ccw on the hammer spring about 1 full turn and brought things down to about 890 with the 10's. With that, I get about 90-100 shots. 
If you don't HAVE to dig inside it, just don't. Unless the tinkerer in you just overwhelms you, leave it. Mine is 3 years old, has maybe 25 tins of pellets through it and it is one of the most reliable guns I have. The only thing I have done is clean it. 

My buddy in Kansas bought one and I went up there to set it up for him. I did a little trigger work for him and tuned it back a little bit. He just texted me today that he got a tree rat kill at 66 yards with a 10 JSB. It shoots about 880-905 tuned back just by backing off the spring a bit, just line mine.

Enjoy that thing and just shoot it :)

Thanks crusher. I need to get a chrony. I guess I didn't understand how Adjustable this riffle is. I thought I was going to have to tweak and mod like I have on all my 13xx/22xx's. It shoots well. I just need to find the pellet it likes. It does sling 10s the best. I haven't been able to shoot much due to weather, and really it gets dark to darn early these days! I really like the trigger!!! I haven't adjusted it, not sure if I will need to.... I wish I would have gotten one sooner. These PCPs are the bees knees! They shoot as nice as any pumper or C02 but way more power than any springer I've shot so far. The recoil and how it effects springers is the biggest reason I went to PCP. The accuracy of my moder 1377 is what I was after, just all that pumping in between shots. No good for quick fallow ups, not that the riffle ever missed.
Anyways I'm in love with my synrod! Thinking I'm just going to sell off everything else to buy more PCPs. Really want to add the P-Rod and bulldog.Should be the only 3 guns I'll ever need!
