First Impressions on the Barra FT 5-25X50 Scope

Barra is out of buisness , thats why the scopes are cheap .The scopes you guys are buying are over stock third party sellers had in overstock and they are trying to recoupe money when they realize they cant sell a no name $999 scope for $999 lol. The prices been dropping thru the years but with new found interest in these scopes the prices may creep back up .I regretted not buying more of the 5x25x50 scope but i snagged 2 for less than $150 each so im good. Also the 2x10x50 are bdc scopes rated for the .223 caliber .

Well, this is all rather confusing with the discrepant info online.

So, may I ask:

Who has an Barra scope that fulfills the following specs (not virtually on some webpage, but real, on your rifle): 😄

▪FT or MP line (I assume these are the made-in-Japan scope, right?)

▪10y min. parallax

▪FFP

▪MIL/MIL or MOA/MOA

▪▪And where did you buy it?

Thanks!

Matthias

Matthias((((( Only mil mil scopes are the ft models except for the 1.5x5x24 ,1.5×8×32,2×10×44 both the 1.5 scopes are duplex on mil turrets and the 2x10x44 is a bdc for a .223 caliber.

I have 3 (2 are H50, 1 is FT) Barra made in Japan, I also have two, H30 3-9x32 front AO made in china, while I am not a china fan these are nice for my HW 50s. I liked it enough to buy the 2nd one, they focus down to 6 yd on 9 power(advertise 10yd min) better than a UTG bug buster IMHO. Got my first one a little cheaper than this fleabay guy I got my 2nd one from

Well I’m a little late in joining. But I bought eleven Barra rifle scopes. And all of the models I purchased were made in Japan. One that I purchased only has JLO markings. I spoke to one of their representatives and he said that JLO made all of the Japanese models. And mine was a sample scope they had purchased to look at before ordering their models. I did contact a representative from JLO here in the USA. I was interested in picking up some sunshades. To my surprise he said that even though it looks like one wound thread in. These models don’t accept a sunshade. One interesting thing I saw on gunbroker is a HAKKO Nimrod ten power rifle scope. Used by Israel military forces. It has the same scope body, turrets, and lettering as my Barra MP models. (HAKKO is the name that JLO has sold scopes under in the past.) As for a sunshade. I ordered off of Amazon Centerpoint universal scope shades. They snap on like wrist bands. Probably not practical for hunting in the woods. But great for bench rest shooting. It looks like the only Japanese made model left on eBay is the 1.5-8x32mm. I own two already. Good for a AR, lever gun, or bolt action where the rear sight is in the way and you don’t want to remove it. Try and find a new Japanese made optic for $125. It is on the heavy side. But so am I. And I seam to get around ok in the woods as well.

Pyramyd Air has the universal sunshade I spoke of on sale for ten dollars. You get two shades. I prefer alloy shades that thread in. However I keep both in their own containers in my range bag. ( Pill bottles from old prescriptions.) And I have found my self using them when I forget to bring a alloy one with me. Example is when I bring three rifles. Two are equipped with Barra scopes. One with a Vortex Viper. Forgot to bring the factory vortex shade. So I slap on one of the universal ones.

I have a set of those flexible sunshades. They are easy to take along in your backpack, the don't get bent or scratched up. And they adjust to a variety of objective diameters. They could be knocked off if you hit a branch, but to prevent loosing it you could simply put a thin thread through it and attach it to the scope.

Great for those outings where I think I will be fine without a sunshade, but just in case I want to be prepared! 😊
