First Impressions on the Barra FT 5-25X50 Scope

Good for you, @darkhorse1967. The price IS irresistible and so is the scope. I'm sure you will be very happy with it - Mil-Dots and all.

Let us see some pics and your comments on your new scope purchase.

Edit - I didn't see your question on the previous page about a sunshade, sorry. It does not come with a sunshade (not at that price, unfortunately) but does come with some really nice flip up scope caps. No kidding, these are really nice and I wouldn't mind having them on some of my other scopes.

scratch,,do the covers, when in the open position, lay flat like Vortex defenders(top) or at 45 degree like the Butler Creek(bottom)

@jarmstrong They pop up to a vertical position straight up and down. It's the fit on the ocular and eyepiece that is so nice and snug. Some caps tend to turn or twist with use and end up facing in some unpredictable location. These also snap very tightly closed and have a nice crisp spring action to pop them open. Hope this helps.

Like you, I just ordered the Vortex Defenders for my Alpha 6 (way to go on that scope, BTW) and I'm looking forward to trying them out. Looks good on that scope.

I have Butler Creek on another scope (which I can't recall right now). I think the Butler Creek are OK, but the eyepiece cap with the yellow spring release button keeps wanting to turn or slide off the scope when put in or out of the rifle case.

Thank you, sir!

The vendor has not replied yet, perchance busy watching the ball game, lol, but I would still buy it even if he does not accept my $190 offer, lol again!

I am shopping for a PCP right now to put this scope on, ha!

I emailed Mr Martin of RAW and asked him if he can make a TM1000 (cylindrical air tube) in .25 cal. that possesses the power of an HM1000X, as I am not too fond of bottle guns., although I am also looking at the Daystate Wolverine HP too and the Taipan Veteran, even the much cheaper BSA R10 with grey laminate stock.

This scope would not look incongruous on top of the aforesaid rifles but I am not too sure if it would or not on the bullpup, aka Taipan..

It looks at home on your handsome Daystate, sir!

Thanks DarkHorse, it does look nice. I hope you can get that TM1000 cylindrical, very nice choice.

If your offer is not accepted (first give him time he's a little rushed right now I would think with lots of orders). He should definitely take a $200 offer and you'll still be ahead. Good luck with both purchases. I've got to tell you I did some late evening shooting in failing light and could still see my targets and reticle very clearly when I usually have to pack it in due to low light.

Cheers

I rarely post on here unless I have a problem, so I think today is my day to give back to this awesome community. I purchased this scope just last week based on a Odoyle's recommendation and I will say without hesitation that it is the best scope I have ever owned. That's not saying much since I haven't owned many, but I will say I have never owned a scope that was this clear at both the 5X end as well as the 25X end.

I combined this scope with a Diana mount on an HW97K and the accuracy is incredible. Today, I'm moving my target out to 30/40/50yds to see how far I can push it. The scope is pretty large, and it makes it a little tricky getting the pellet into the barrel, and I have to hold it a little awkwardly because the ocular lens protrudes so far into the hand grip area, but worth it in every way. Another tiny gripe is that the turret markings do not exactly line up with the zero markings but this scope is so clear I just don't care about stuff like that.

20yds / standing (leaning against the door frame). Started shooting out the edges because the bullseye was gone.

It does not look too out of place on the HW, H2018 sir!

Nice shooting!

I have had 4 Bushnell Elites, the 6-24×50 with G2 reticle being the most expensive, so I am really curious to see if this scope is clearer than the aforesaid model.

I was going to buy the Barra Hero in 2-10 × 44 too but that model is made in China, too bad!

I am not buying made in China optics anymore no matter how good they are.

Oh, my scope's already got a tracking number, lol!

my Barra arrived today,,very clear glass, clearer to me than my Midas tac, thats the good, now the turrets are soft, not bad but not the hard click of midas. The bad is ,it would not focus down to 10 yd, I need the 10 yd ability. Took the objective cap off,it was sort of stuck on tight fit, and it turned the front of the scope, the part that holds the lens. by turning it out about 3/4 of a rotation, I GOT MY 10 yd focus, but lost the infinity, I can only focus out to about 200 yds,,but crap I never shoot that far, so I am good with it. The turret lines are off by the width of the lines, when you remove the cap and rotate it,it does not matter which spline you put it on it always lines up the same. And the reticle lines are a little wider than my SWFA mil-dot, which my old eyes likes, I tend to loose the thin reticles when sorting the house sparrows from good sparrows and moving from one bird to the next. Both my Midas at 10 power and my Swfa fixed 10x reticle lines are a little thinner than I like. This scope is a keeper for me, I like it better than the Alpha 6 for my yard and garden pesting. the Aim Sport Alpha 6 is better for bench/range work or competition when you have the time and need to range the distance,,,thats my 2 cents worth

the Barra is a bargain in my world and will sit on my daily use gun,,my 20 ft/lb power Zbroia Kozak 22 compact

Odoyle sir, that is the same (?) scope but I was referring to the one being sold by the same seller on Ebay:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/173171936168?&ul_noapp=true&autorefresh=true

They appear to have the same model number, so it should be the same scope, although the one on Ebay is advertised as made in China---could be a misprint?

The seller has not gotten back to me yet regarding the actual origin but I was sent an offer of less than $180.

I will post the info as soon as they get back to me.
