First English sparrow of 2021

Hopefully I’ll be successful in keeping them off of the swallow nesting boxes. Last summer I had to watch a group of them gang up on a swallow box and kill the babies. The box was on the landlord’s garage and I couldn’t take them out because there was people in the yard. What I can’t believe is how smart they are, I almost got the female but she got away. Now I can hear them in the distance chirping but they stay hidden in the bushes. The summer battle has begun! Soon I will be recipient of my custom AZ .20 cal. I asked him to make it as quiet as possible, it’s built from my .30 Crown and will have tons of whisper quiet shots. Can’t wait to get it and bust the sparrows and starlings that are arriving. I’ll be sure to post pictures and pictures of groups!

Was out at the local stockyard permission again today, got 8-9 sparrows before they wised up and quit coming in range. Even took one with the gun laying on its side because I was a little too short on the rest I was using to get my eye to the scope...but it still went down. It was only after that shot and the next one on a 92yd pigeon I realized by SD card was full. If my Maverick ever arrives this is going to be a fun summer.
