First Airgun News From The 2019 SHOT Show

Yes, it's true. The 2019 SHOT Show does not begin until Tuesday January 22. But pre-show events actually started yesterday - on Sunday - and we have reports of these already in Hard Air Magazine.

In the morning, I attended SIG SAUER's Premier Media Day. In addition to a ton of new firearms products and the first appearance of the new SIG Air ProForce airsoft products, there were some new airguns.

Probably the most interesting was the new SIG MCX Vertus PCP air rifle. This is an improved, HPA-powered version of the SIG MCX ASP. It features a 3,000 PSI HPA tank which is regulated to 1100 PSI for use in the gun. The gun is available in .22 caliber only (at least at first) with an MSRP of $350. Power is set at around 11 Ft/Lbs of muzzle energy - about 700 FPS - so this is another in SIG's very successful line of military lookalikes/trainers, rather than a hardcore hunting air rifle.

There was also the first sighting of an airgun version of SIG's phenomenally-successful P365 concealed carry pistol. Both new models are expected to be available in stores mid-year, 2019.

Then in the evening, Velocity Outdoor - the company formally known as Crosman Corporation - held a Press Event at Machine Guns Vegas. There we were introduced to a new "generation two" Benjamin Fortitude. This has a lighter trigger pull weight and adjustable hammer spring tension capability. It will replace the "Gen One" Fortitude in manufacturing at the same price.

Velocity Outdoor also showed a new Benjamin ReCharge HPA compressor and the production-ready version of the Benjamin Mag Fire multi-shot breakbarrel sir rifle which was previewed at last year's SHOT Show.

Not only that but Michael Wendt from Airgun Nation and Steve Scialli from AEAC were there to see the new stuff too...

I've got the Sig MPX and did the HPA conversion on it. Was disappointed in it's low power, but really a fun gun to blast through 30 pellets in a matter of seconds.

My first thoughts were...dang this would be nice if just had more power and Sig has answered my prayers with the MCX Virtus! It's definitely on my radar!

Thanks for posting!

I'd really like to know if we're going to get another shot at the Benjamin Fortitude this year.
