Finding air

So, I greatly underestimated the ease with which I can find HPA, despite living in the greater Houston area. So far i have only found one souce - a paintball/airsoft range called tanks. the problem is, it’s about 30 - 45 minutes from me, and I am quite positive I would driving by a baker’s dozen of suppliers ive overlooked.

The fire stations all said no. My local dive shop only goes to 3800.

I tried yelping, and all I uncovered was Tanks.

Can anyone suggest additional search methods to find HPA. I live in 77450, the west side of Houston in a suburb named Katy.

I've know of people who rent a 6000 psi nitrogen tank for $200 a year then refill it for $50 when it drops to 3000 psi they need 2-3 refills a year and that covers a lot of shooting. I would do that and save for a hp compressor or booster. Check if there are other people in Houston in a similar situation and possibly partner with them in a compressor purchase. I have a Carette compressor. When I purchased it my Amex card had a special were as long as it was paid for in 12 months no interest it cost me $135 a month X 12.

I have the same tank it fits easily into my backpack. It works out well for a field tank it keeps my Leshiy going for a days worth of shooting. When I’m spending a day at the range I use my tiger shark tank which is 72cf when I got my Benjamin tank they had a $30 rebate if it’s still available I’ll post it later

there is a $30 rebate
download it here

Most people going for the cheap $300 Chinese compressors don’t spend money on a quality air dryer. If you put Air that has moisture into your tank or rifle it will rust from the inside out. This can happen quicker than you think. The dangerous part is you tank or rifle turns into a pipe bomb. I’m planning on using my borescope at least annually to inspect my storage tanks and rifle tanks for corrosion.

I live in a small town in North Dakota and worried about getting my tanks filled. I found an air supplier that supplies air for oilfield work that fills my tank to 4500psi. You are in the so called heart of the oilfield surely you can find a company that provides air for oilfield workers that can fill your tank. I had to buy an adapter but my tanks get filled no problem. Look for a company that provide air for oilfield workers.

I don’t think there are oil fields in Houston. They have refineries for sure, the oil is in the western and Far East part of the state and the gulf.

"Skip-in-WV"Maybe a volunteer fire department at a smaller town outside the city limits. If they say yes give them a can of coffee.
I’m in west central Mn and the 7 VFDs I asked only did up to 3200 and one scuba shop in Fargo ND did 3800 but that still 72 miles from me and other then that the closest was over 100 miles away,so I just gave in and bought a AV compressor and 2 tanks so now I don’t worry about it, heck I have a few airguns that cost more then the compressor and now I have enough air to enjoy them all without worrying about it.

Investing in a compressor is a big decision and I hemmed and hawed for quite some time before I went ahead and got one. There are a lot of options now that are alot more affordable. I don't think anyone on this forum would say they regretted buying theirs. It really makes shooting alot more fun and you know you are not going to run out of air. It really is a big expense, but I have never looked back!
Best of luck!
