Finally, the plan comes together

Hello again AGN! I few months back I introduced myself and have since talked to a number of you. What a great family! Several of you asked to see my Wildcat once I set it up, so here it is.

I went with the Wildcat MKII .25, Huggett Belita, Aztec Emerald 5.5 25x50, Atlas BT46-LW17 Bi-pod and some of the coolest mag holders I have ever seen. Seriously, anyone that has a Wildcat should reach out to Matt who makes these (if you haven’t already). I went with the Delron type. For air, I went with Joe’s Great White package.

Drilling the rail mount kind of freaked me out (something about drilling into a $1k plus rifle). Definitely not the time for trembling hands. Luckily, Mr. Drill press and Mr. Forstner helped make the process a little easier.

I also worked on some new “weighted” PVC target stands, which my dog promptly christened. No worries though, I’ll have “Oregun” carry them next time we go shooting! The boxes are for the back yard area. Each box has 11 inches of rubber nuggets with a bottom (back) lined with 1x7 plumbers putty. If that doesn’t stop a pellet, the shed lined w/ 4x4’s should. Can you say overkill? Hey, I live in suburbia… what can I say?

Off to weigh and size the 2,500+ pellets I just washed…

Oh, for the observant types… yes, the safety is in Fire. The new Wildcats won’t go to full safety unless you’ve cocked the rifle

I'm drooling -drooling-drooling. The only big mistake I see is that it's not LEFT HANDED!!! (lol). All aside, I see the( fastener) by your bits & I know they work good on wood stocks but how did they do on that type of stock? did they penertrate good ? I have no experience with that type of material, Looking forward to seeing mine too.
Congrats! Darell

Darell, penetration was good but it didn't stay put. I put a couple dabs of epoxy around the edges to hold it in place (recommended by someone else). I also used Loctite Purple (low strength) on the threads to keep them in place. Should be easy to remove if I ever want to. The only disappointment was that the blue painters tape pulled up a little of the powder coat. No worries though, you'll never see it. -Dave

Dave Well that's a darn bummer, I'm a dyi'er myself and that's the way I would have done it & I think most gunsmiths would have to. Maybe I stuck my foot in my mouth on that one. There's so many different materials & coatings these days, who's to know the best application & the way to go about it. I'm assumming it probably peeled a little where you made the forstner penetration (breaking the seal of the coating) they probably took less care in that area like they do when painting underneath a hood or trunk lid. I see the rail comes with
the compact model , wish they did the same on the longer version. Ive been doing so much research and reading in this forum my brain is spinning, to much for this old fart to take in. I like the looks of your bull pup. As far as your minor glitch I call that a (unexpected learning experience) ,lord knows how many I've had. Keep us posted on those 50 & 100 yd shots. Thanks for the reply Darell
