A few weeks ago, I traded for a Mac1 LD Pistol. I finally got it out of the safe and did some shooting yesterday. I still have yet to chrono it, but grabbed some 14.3's and started shooting. This gun has the regged hpa tank or can be shot off co2 carts like originally designed. I will probably always shoot off the hpa bottle. I am unsure of how many shots I took, but the tank gauge barely moved. I assume this thing will get alot of shots!!
Part of the LD treatment is dovetailing the receiver for scope mounts. It also has a 10"HW .22 barrel, upgraded valve, and a really good trigger job. The open sights are decent as the factory rear sight was retained and a front blade added to the hw barrel. Gun was shooting high left and when I went to the shop to grab a small screw driver to adjust, I remembered I had a spare holographic sight with a dovetail base. So, I threw it on and was zeroed at 15 yards in only 5 shots.
I have to admit that I have always wanted an LD, but never believed the accuracy claims. Keep in mind I was only shooting cheap crosman hp's and have yet to find what this gun prefers. Shooting off hand at 15 yards I was easily shooting withing a fifty cent piece. I have a bunch of steel spinners and I just could not miss. I will definitely be spending the time to find its favorite pellet and possibly add a decent pistol scope.
I really enjoy my MKII, but this LD is even more fun!! If I get time tonight, I will chrono the LD. I am tempted to send my MKII to Tim and have it converted as well, but leave it a co2 cart gun.
