Fill pressure?

I fill everything to 220-230 unless it's rated for less, or tune otherwise dictates a lower fill.... But.... The maverick is dual regulated, so I'd say have at it.

What does mfg say to fill to?

The cylinder is rated to 300bar. The maverick vp has aluminium cylinder rated for 230bar. The maverick sniper and compact have cf cylinders rated for 250bar. I believe the impact m3 has a 300bar fill, but not sure on that. So I'm not sure what I'll do just yet. New cylinder has not arrived

Look on the side of your bottle for pw and the number after; if it's 250 only fill to that although the bottle says 300bar that is not the working pressure but if it was accidentally overfilled.

The new 300bar bottles have a pw of 300 not 250.

With my Marauder and Air Arms S510 rifles the manufactures recommend staying below 180 bar for the best accuracy. Sometimes less is more and I tend to trust the product engineers over others unless they can produce real data to back up a different approach.

I do not make it a practice to load anything to 100% of its capacity but leave a safe margin. Stating that it is OK so far is like someone falling off a 20 story building and being asked how it was going as he passed the 2nd floor on his way to the ground. Everything is fine until it is not and then it is often too late.

I am even more cautious with anything near my face and my eyes. When I loaded my own .357 cartridges I always backed off on the amount of gunpowder as I did not want to have a problem with a hand gun blowing up in my hands and with a rifle my face is a lot closer.

Difficult to understand why it is important to get an extra 20 shots from a single fill. On the gun range I preferred using a single shot rifle as my ammo lasted a lot longer although I am sure Remington and the rest would rather I blasted away on full auto.

I also would not trust the accuracy of an air gauge having seen too many that were not accurate for the full range of PSI they were supposed to measure. They might be right on at 2000 PSI but way off at lower or higher pressures.

I guess in the end of the bottle is rated for it you can especially with the Maverick or the M3 because of the dual regulators. With that said it is really a personal preference kind of like if you drive the speed limit on the highway or if you go over by 5mph, it's personal preference and as stated, just because you can doesn't mean you should.

I've seen a few vendors now offering the 300 bar cf bottle as part of their new rifle package and I wonder if they would try to push this with the worries which have been stated. It really comes down to what you want and if it is safe. If you are really concerned I would probably ask FX what they advise and go from there.

It is also a matter of time to fill. When I used 3500 PSI scuba tanks it took twice as long to get them to 100% as when I used 2800 PSI rated tanks. The last 500 lbs took a very long time and the fill stations charged more accordingly. There is also a point where one is adding hotter air and so the PSO when the air has cooled to the ambient temperture may be a lot less.
