Let’s say you have a 20x max power SFP scope set at 20x and need a 4 minute holdover to hit your target at 100 yards, then change the power to 10x at the same 100 yard target you will need a 2 minute holdover....

Actually, the minutes of holdover needed to hit the target don't change. The number of dots or stadia marks needed to represent the same minutes of holdover changes.

"minutes" is the angle (slope) that the trajectory needs to be adjusted in order to intersect the target. It's the same angle whether 20x, 10x, or even open sights.

most target shooters use sfp scopes

That's all I needed to hear !

Thanks. I've seen SO many opinions, just as many as regulated vs non-regulated. Ugh... It gets so confusing because I don't know who's opinion to trust. I know Steve Scialli says that the regulated vs non-regulated is so misunderstood, and I will assume the same goes for scopes. I just target shoot at 25-50 yards and just want a clear, precise scope. I am fine with all my SFP scopes. I am looking for a new scope, and I want a 6-24x50 because I target shoot. I will do some more looking but now it's down to Discovery vs Athlon vs Westhunter vs Hawke vs .... UGH .....

I have and use both. If you "just target shoot" and shoot at relatively consistant distances then there is probably zero advantage to a FFP. If your shooting use changes then it might well be different.
