Fed-X came today and it is finally here!

Well never got to the range Friday and they were doing some long range stuff Saturday so, the range I use was unobtainium. Instead, I sorted many tins of pellets. Then I just could not leave well enough alone and pulled the brand new Superior liner off my M3 and installed the Heavy liner, I have had waiting for it a few weeks now, with a carbon fiber sleeve. The sleeve fit nice and tight in my old Gen1 barrel housing I even had to sand it a little. But it was so sloppy in the m3 that I had to glue it or it would not have done anything at all. Had some Permatex bearing sleeve retainer that seemed to be the right consistency so I used it. Hope it dries. Guess I will know tomorrow.

Cudos to FX I got the 300 bar bottle, on my gun and look is this laser etched markings on the barrel I pulled? That is definitely the right way to do it!

FINALLY! They finally got a laser etchinghing machine! AND even with all the necessary info!

Well once again I will not be taking the new gun out for testing today as I am waiting for Fed-X to bring me another new scope that I do not need. How does that werq?

Anyway since I could not take it out I shot it in the basement at 10 meters. It took me a couple of shots off of paper before I moved in close enough to hit the paper and near 10 shots to get it sighted on target adjusting the Eagle Vision mounts and the turrets.

The gun is quieter with the stock moderator than I thought it would be for the 81+ fpe it is putting out from the Utah Airguns tune.

I made another bushing, for the shroud 17.8mm in diameter 14mm long with a 14mm hole, to tension the barrel a bit so, when I put the heavy Sarrissa on, it would not droop so much.

It werqed pretty well and I did not notice much in the way of barrel droop when I installed the new moderator. But I did see just over an inch of drop in the pellet group with it installed. With the Sarrissa on it was noticeably quieter and basement friendly though. Quite the difference it is.

I am really looking forward to getting this thing out to the range for some pellet and slug testing.

Edit;

Just looked at my 1st reg gauge and it said 180bar second reg is set at 100 so removed the bottle and set the 1st reg at 130bar. While I was there I removed a nasty burr from the reg at the front of the threads. It would have eventually torn up the seal on my bottle. Way to many burrs on these spendy guns.

I don't even bond my liners anymore. I just strategically wrap Blue Monster Teflon tape to the right amount and work the liner over the wrap, There just doesn't seem to be any benefits in using a bonding agent.

Had to use something cuz it was so sloppy the sleeve would have done nothing. I had the some of the sleeve retainer but did not have much in the way of tape that would have done the job though. You know how it is you use what you have most of the time. I don't go out shopping in China virusville anymore than I have to.

Hmmm is it the liner OD that has shrunk or is the CF sleeve ID of the tubing just too large?

I hear you on shopping. I can't stand wearing a bandana over my face while I shop around here (I need to move out of this draconian state).

Well, I decided to change my liner back to the stock Superior liner as it shoots the ammo I already have, mostly the 44gr JSB pellets, excellent. But when I went to pull the liner out the carbon sleeve came with it. So, my bonding agent the Permatex Sleeve Retainer did not werq at all. Most of it never hardened and just made a big fat mess. So after an hour of cleaning it up I put it back together with the Superior liner and just shoved it in the barrel housing. It's not very tight but I don't have anything thin enough to tighten it up. That will have to wait for another day. Hoping to head out to the range for some testing later today.

EDIT;

Not likely that will happen as I am waiting for deliveries today and tomorrow. I almost fergot!

That is the exact reason why it is better to use a 2 part epoxy of some sort that doesn't require air to cure. 2 ton epoxy works great, just don't get the fast cure stuff, or you could end up with carbon fiber halfway on a barrel. Ask me how I know, lol! I personally only use epoxy if the fit isn't tight. Otherwise, I just cram it all together. The tape idea also works very well, but you have to use the right tape as mtnGhost mentioned.

Congrats on the long wait!

Get a new GRS Crown today!

The Sarissa moderator may be long but dam dose it work better than DonnyFL

Sarissa sounds like a faint cap pistol a 100 yards away :)

Rallyshark,

Yes I kind of knew that but It is all I had and I just had to try it. Good thing I did cuz I decided to put the Superior liner back on and had I used the epoxy that would not have happened.

2L8 and Goldwing and the rest of you;

Thanks and yes it was a very long wait. Trying to get out to test it again but have not managed yet. There is always tomorrow but tomorrow never comes. ;^)
