Exploding Russian pellets

Do the 177 pellets exceed the sound barrier in an average breakbarrel, for instance a ruger airhawk?

I'll let you know in a week or so, I just ordered the red .177s and I have a ruger airhawk too.

are these available in .22cal? I dont see the russian or tracker in .22 just .177

well I tried em today, the explosion is so loud i cant tell if it breaks the sound barrier but im pretty sure it does, it doesnt show the weight but if i had to guess its only about 4-5grains and sounded louder then a 22lr imo when i hit a 2x4. alot louder then expected and not even close to backyard friendly haha, ill save em for new years and 4th of july tho

I have the "Red" labeled version. They worked GREAT! They explode when they impact almost any surface. I could shoot them at a a tree trunk across the street, and about 25 feet above ground level and they would detonate. They sound and flash like one of those "Lady Finger" firecrackers or a small pistol primer.

At 25 yards I had no problem keeping them on an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper. Shooting at the tree trunk (24" wide) about 35 yards across the street I'd hit it (or at least I'd hear the detonation) 2 out of 3 times.

The only concern I had was shooting them from my springer rifle. I think they provided enough resistance to keep the piston from slamming (at least no ill effects.) However, I would load 2 or more at a time in magnum springers. A .177 CO2 or PCP would be ideal.

These pellets are sold on eBay here is a copy of the post title, ( Tracker "Falcon" Air Gun Rifle Pellets Light/Flash Sonic/Bang Effects .177 4.5 ) ,this is for the red plastic ones, once you find the page you can see links to all the other ones in the recommended section I highly recommend the ones called "raptor" they have a 10 inch circumference explosion and are shaped like normal Diablo pellets they are also made of metal like normal pellets have the explosive material on the outside facing the target are safe to use in magnum springers or any high power air gun and are quite awsome to see hear And use..

I thought I'd update this post. I had put these pellets on my "watchlist" on E-bay and had received a discount from them. A couple days ago, I received another offer of at least 15% off, so I took a look at it since this is a pretty good discount. These are actually being shipped from Kharkiv Ukraine. I thought that since I received the offer, that may be a request for funds to help defend themselves, so I went ahead and accepted the offer. They say that they have shipped, and that the last tracking notice was from Kiev. This is promising...

Has anyone out there tried out this Russian exploding pellets? There are are 2 types the red colored ones are called BLIK pellets and the zombie green colored ones are called phantom pellets, they are supposed to make a flash and a big bang I just ordered some off eBay but it will take like a month to arrive and I'm curious if anyone here has any experience with them i only found a few videos about them and it's all in different languages, I'm mostly wondering how loud are they, and what is the difference between the two types?
Please use extreme caution when using these. We've had enough fires already.

I just ordered six more boxes of pellets. We have been getting a good bit of rain here in Colorado, so I thought that it was a good time to play with these with my son.

Please use extreme caution when using these.
We'll be really careful and keep a fire extinguisher around...same as when we use the Firebirds. ;)

I just received my first of two orders of these pellets. It was great, these were listed as "Fishing Accessories (Weight Set)" on the customs form :p

Anyway, for anyone interested, I shot a quick video of how these perform. Here is the link.

Basically I shot a normal pellet first so you could see how the target rings normally, and then I shot it with the Tracker-Raptor. This is using a 0.177cal 2240 modified PCP shooting at about 17FPE or 850FPSish.

I was pretty surprised and quite pleased at the report. I also got one to report off of an empty aluminum can, so you don't need the AR500 used in the video.

I haven't gone out past 25 yards yet, so I am not sure of the ultimate accuracy, but it didn't suffer greatly at 25 yards.

I've got a couple sleeves of FireBirds that I picked up at RMAC. Shall I?????

I have some of the red ones in .177 and .22 cal. Tried them I n my basement range to see what they do and they were extremely loud! They are a ton of fun at dusk in the backyard range. I only shoot them out of my older less powerful pump and my crossman 2240 usually at around 35yrds. They aren’t really practical but they sure neat and a lot of fun!

better make sure you have shooting glasses on
That's a good point. Treat them like BB's. When shooting the heavier pellets at longer range with a rifle, it's not that big of a deal, but I will be shooting targets at about 25 feet when I get the lighter ones using CO2. We'll make sure that we have glasses on for the short-rangers (y)

The second shipment is at the post office right now, so I will have them tomorrow. I can't wait to blow through a whole 20-shot mag of these.

I doubt that there will be any appreciable difference in the size of the hole (in a can, for example) versus a regular pellet, but I will check it out and see if the explosion causes some premature expansion to make a bigger hole...or something... I also plan to shoot a full can to see if it impedes the explosion.

We've been getting at lease a little bit of rain here daily, so I am feeling good about doing some testing with these. More to come...

I tried them out last night. The .22 pellets are a little underbore, i.e. they can slide right through my 1322 barrel. So when I use them I have to keep the barrel pointed up, to avoid losing the pellet before I fire.

I suppose this is a good thing as if there was much contact you'd likely get a lot of barrel fouling.
I have only used mine in mags, so I guess the spring is keeping tension on them enough to keep them into place. This is an interesting observation. I'll put a caliper on them.

So, as we have proven in the bent skirt posts that this issue will be fixed once the high pressure comes in, the skirt will get a good seal to the barrel on the way out. So, how was your resulting accuracy compared to other 15.89gr pellets? I was lucky to hit 4" at 50 Yards.
