Experience with Benjiman Fortitude Gen 2?

Been considering one in .177 so I an tune it down to 12fpe or so as well. But, haven't heard anything about the Gen 2. I assume the accuracy is about the same as the Gen 1, and Crosman dropped the trigger pull from 8 pounds to 4. And added the ability to adjust hammer spring.

If you buy one, try buying directly from crosman, on a Friday, use discount code AGNATION and see if it still works. Fridays, at least it used to work this way, shipping was free.

Let us know if it all still works.

I ordered a 22 cal that should be here soon. I'm planning to snag a beater wood stock for it. I'll cut it down for my sons and their friends to shoot at the mini range I'm setting up for them. I'm setting up a much of spinner targets, and metal sillhoute targets (thanks Wally World) for some low power fun!

I'll have to check out Baker Airguns trigger upgrade if the stock one is too stiff.

Thanks friends!

& if you want to pimp it up, Boyd’s makes a beautiful stock for the Discovery, which fits the Fortitude.

Those are really nice stocks from Boyd's. They come in a few different colors too. I posted the green because it pops out really nice and shows really well. Granted, the starting price on them is $199, that's almost as much as the gun itself, but something I totally would be happy buying if it was my gun.

As an interesting side note, I just looked on Baker's and they are not listed.

The main change from Gen 1 was an adjustable hammer spring, which also improved the trigger and cocking efforts. They also made some internal changes to help prevent leaks that the gen 1 was plagued with.

The biggest complaint on Gen2 is getting more power from it. The small plenum makes it hard to do so, .. increase reg set-point and open TP some, gets you a little, but not allot. Make sure you will be happy with the out-of-box power level or less.

Yes, the Fortitude fits the Boyd's stocks inletted for Disco. I have At-One and Varmint thumbhole. People have put the OEM disco stock on them, as well.

I have done the three screw mod to the trigger, and still was not happy, but already spoiled with mrod triggers. Went with Gen 1 Mrod trigger, but does require some stock inletting and a trigger guard.

There's something to be said about being happy with what you have, I have had more fun in the past few months shooting my 177 cal Fortitude in my backyard the rifle is very quiet and accurate enough at 50 yds to keep me interested when I stretch it to 67 yds it's not as much fun and I start to get frustrated, at 50 yds 5 shots can be covered with a dime at 67 yds the groups open 1 1/2". After a few thousand shots the bolt has become silky smooth, I did do the ink pen trigger mod and installed the two screws trigger pull is better but I'm still planning on the baker trigger, I've put on an inexpensive Caldwell tripod and UTG 4X16 scope and a cheek riser

Gun just showed up. I'm very pleased.

1) Trigger is actually decent, just a bit heavy. I expected far worse when I read posts on this gun. Maybe those were gen 1s. I dont mind the trigger at all.

2) The gun is sooo light and the stock is slender. LOVE IT

3) Very quiet report. I like the tone better than the gauntlet, but that's a personal preferance deal.

4) The gauntlet mags slide in and cycle no problem! Yes, cheap magazines.

5) Bolt is smooth and the pull is light.

The box contained a chrony print out which showed a very consistent shot string in the 700s. The shot card / factory test target in the box was basically 1 hole. The target didnt say the pellet they used. Hopefully they used 14.3 grain domed....I have a lot of those pellets from when I owned a maximus euro.

Happy camper here! My kiddos and I will be shooting some metal targets this weekend.

Filled it, didnt clean the barrel....35 yards it shot squirrel head accurate with 14.3 CHPs, Gamo RedFires....works for me.

I'll try my assortment of AA and JSBs...but I like that its pesting distance accurate with budget pellets.

The trigger needs to be lightened up a bit, otherwise its awesome. This is a better walk about pesting gun than its competition due to the weight. Plus....Crosman has amazing customer service and a great warranty.

Umarex and Crosman have some awesome budget guns. I now have a gauntlet and a fortitude for my son and his friends to shoot with my oversight...plus I can borrow the fortitude to walk around with and dispatch pests.
