Expensive hobby

My collection is probably about the same as some guys speed boat or fishing boat. These boat owners might be lucky to use them once a week. Like they say, The best day is the day you buy your boat and sell your boat. My collection however entertains me every day of the week all year long. My favorites are the expensive ones. Vintage is fun and some affordables are pretty darn nice. Airguns are a great entertainment value and bang for your buck because we use them frequently.

I now have 15 rifles and 5 pistols. All are quality and I am not tempted by new stuff unless I feel like I just gotta have it. Maybe the new Daystate electronic Wolf is next.

All hobbies can be expensive. I paid $5500 for my fishing boat, and always out fished my friend who spent $40,000 on a bass boat. He did look better on the water than me. I enjoy my sailboat just much as the guy who spent 4X more for his.

I would never spend $3000 on a scope, but wouldn't think twice about spending $250 on a saw blade or a chisel.

We spend our money on what is important to us

The world would be a boring place if we all were the same.

I started this hobby two short years ago. My powder burners haven’t been shot in as long. I own 4 modest PCPs, two SCBAs, compressor and yes it adds up quick. But my enjoyment factor is through the roof and I get to shoot almost everyday. Am trying to guard against buying more PCPs than I can shoot. Will be waiting a few years for additional purchases. There are some sweet PCPs out there that are destined for the classifieds.

I sold my PBs when I got orders to Japan. Not even airguns are allowed in Japan. And although I have airguns I have no PBs anymore, not even one. I was never heavily into it anyway. Pistols only. Depending on how you use them I always figured the biggest expense of powder burners was ammo. No matter how much I spend on the airgun itself at least I can count on cheap ammo. Thats how I justify it anyway. But I have .177s only with the single exception of a single .25 caliber I probably won't keep. I don't hunt. Target shooting only, and that is why I have .177s. Is powder burner ammo that expensive for benchrest or silhouette? I'm just curious. I really don't know.

I share a similar story with L.Leon, I've got quite a few PB pistols and rifles, and they sit in the safe. I get as much pleasure, without the noise and recoil, from the air rifles I own -- Brocock Commander and Concept Lite. My children also enjoy them and I'm not harassing the neighbors with a loud PB report.

I did 25 rounds out of a Mossberg 930 the other day and honestly, I found it less enjoyable than shooting the air rifles. I think the LDCs have spoiled me and the general plinking at 50 - 100 yards is quite pleasing.

2much, I don't think they actually know what they are missing. Not only is the air stuff equally enjoyable but it's also significantly less expensive once you get past the initial investment.

I had been on a quest for a 22 bolt action short, mainly for plinking, and for reduced recoil. My air rifles in .22 not only fit that bill but they do it without the necessity of the cost of PB ammo, ammo shortages, cleaning, noise, etc. I shoot CPDs and I can score 6,000 rounds for ~$70 USD. Can't even come close to that in .22 short for PBs.

I got the fever from AGN and youtube last summer I promised myself I'd only buy one airgun and one scope so I bought what I'd consider the most versatile for me but I'm an electro mechanical technician so I like tinkering and dont mind spending money love the comradery also, guys are always willing to explain away problems and do video reviews to help others spend wisely I have a good setup but for some reason I keep looking at the steyr pro x so my last purchase was an ior recon and a tactacam got some tips yesterday on how to set up the camera for better footage it worked now I'm smiling

When a guy is into guns from youth and they get old there tends to be quite a collection. I've owned many guns but sold most of them and kept stepping up until I reached what I considered my apex, once that apex was reached for each gun I went onto the next gun. I feel good about what I have and I use them all, just some less than others. I do have plenty of regular guns but I'm happy with them for what I use them for, and what they are, so no plans of upgrading these.

The same thing applied to my riflescopes.

I'm blessed to have access to the FS right off my property, able to shoot firearms 7 minutes from home, and have a friend that owns a shooting range, well it's just a large piece of property with steel targets all over the place. I went there yesterday and shot four different 22rf's and a old 40x 308. No air rifles though but it all depends on what we get the itch to shoot on any particular day. One of the funnest days was when there happened to be a fly hatch, they kept landing on the paper targets and on a table 9 yards away. Around 6 of us shooting at them and it was a race to shoot at a fly first before the others did, there were fly parts all over that table, lol. This was all with air rifles.

Yep I've had loads of fun with cheap airguns """"as long as they function"""" okay.

If getting nice stuff makes you happy then go for it!

No shame in using inexpensive stuff either.

I definitely shoot my airguns more often, the recoilless and quietness make them easy to shoot, specially in my back yard.

To be honest i don't see myself spending $3000 on a scope that i'm going to use for 50-150 maybe 200 yards, on the other hand i have a 3K Vortex Razor on my 6.5 Creedmoor that i use to shoot 500-1000+ yards targets. Everybody is free to spend their money the way they want, we live in a free country right!? ; )

Yep, a couple weeks ago at the local range, there was a guy shooting an airgun. I was kicking back with coffee during a cease fire, when I saw his air tank, and decided to check it out. He was shooting an FX Crown in .25 at 100 yds. After the range went live, he asked me if I wanted to shoot it? ...... Wow, I was impressed ...a 100 yards with an airgun?

And with the following lock down because of the C-19 craziness I had too much time on my hands and started checking out youtube videos on the FX line.

I couldn't stand it, so I jumped in with an order for the FX Dreamline Tactical from Utah Airguns. I really wanted the FX Impact in .25, but decided the .22 Dreamline would be a better fit. With the AR adjustable stock, my grandkids can shoot it, and with the DonnyFL it is quiet enough to shoot in the back yard. Winner-winner.

After I received it, I transferred a scope and mount off of an AR and now I'm hooked. The grandkids and I are going to have so much fun.
