Ever want to sell every PCP? Just go back to tuned springers?

I am thinking of selling all of my PCP’s, not really to buy Springers though. Just considering getting rid of all my gear and sticking with my traditional firearms. I love the PCP stuff but still love powder burners more. Just mulling for now though.

I'm in the same boat. Don't see going back to springers, and I expect I'll always have a nice PCP for pests and plinking. But, I have to admit I get tired of the tinkering that seems never ending with keeping PCPs running well. I'm about fed up with O rings, valves, seals, regulators, etc. With cartridge firearms, ammunition can be a challenge, but the rifles are relatively rock solid compared to air rifles.

I have actually thought about it. Will probably not do it, not for now anyway. I started out with a Gamo Springer that left a really sour taste in my mouth. Then jumped into the PCPs, Loved the accuracy and the power, WOW!!! But then I gave quality Spring guns a chance, and the more I use them, the more I am into them. I can honestly say I could have one or two PCPs and 12 Springers or so, and be quite content. The real bitch of it all is knowing which 2 PCPs to settle on.

Every so often, I say to myself, I gotta break out the springers... however, that never happens. Typically, my buddy Dave & I set up at 50/75/100 yards and shoot PCPs... the RedWolf HP, Impact, and Wildcats.

Someday, I gotta break out my vintage, HW35 and give it a go. It's a 1980, in it's original box and tags still hanging off. John in PA, refreshed the seals and lubed it up before sending it to me. Now, I got to shoot the darn thing! This thread reminded me of that. Thanks!

I have thought about it but I haven’t done it. I will have at least one pcp though. I cobbled it together from a QB78 and made the stock for it. It has a LW barrel on it too. It’s .177. I’ll probably always have at least that one. I do enjoy my Wildcat and the Streamline too but I can do what I need/want to with my spring guns so I have thought about ditching the PCPs. Time will tell but I’ll probably always have PCP. It’s here to stay.

I WILL NEVER GO TO THE DARK SIDE

To much equipment. Not really any better for hunting since most game is taken at 50 yards or less. The simplicity of grabbing a gun and a tin of pellets heading out the door without any extra equipment suits my needs perfectly. Shooting springers helps me shoot powder burners more efficient.

If I'm going in the back country for a extended period i don't want to carry anything else a break barrel is simple and reliable. And those that say there not powerful enough haven't shot some of the magnums available.

Own 14 . 6 of them magnums

Springers, Pumpers, PCPs, SSPs - have them all, love all of them and shoot them all regularly. No need to chose one platform, they are paid for and sit quietly until I decide whether I want to plink, pest, hunt or shoot paper.

I have phases, winter is 10 meter time for the FWBs... 100; 300 and 603; summer it could be anything in the gun safe. Pesting duties are equally split between my .177 FWB 300 springer and .22 HW100 PCP... best I can tell they get along together just fine.

I've sold most of my powder burners to fund my airgun addiction and can't see going back to them. Used to be that you could shoot rimfires pretty well anywhere there was a safe backstop, not anymore. And totally forget about discharging a centerfire anywhere but on a bonafide range – the police would show up well before you had your scope sighted in! The permissions that I hunt and pest of don’t allow powder burners at all.

I'd never be able to chose one platform - I'm getting an Impact (hopefully in the next week or two) for long range plinking but my next rifle will be a HW30S.

Cheers!

While I know that there are awesome springers out there, and I won’t part with my 20 year old R7. I won’t ever go back to springers. The consistent accuracy with my PCPs just has me hooked and never gets boring. Some users above mentioned getting tired of tinkering, replacing this or that O ring. I can see where that can get old. But there are some solid PCPs out there that keep chugging along with minimal maintenance issues. They’re just not the latest greatest so they have been overlooked.
