Eurasian Collard Dove Population Expansion

It's IL, they have chicago, foid and such, BUT are not the only one that do not treat an invasive species like and invasive species.

Mourning dove is federally regulated so no leeway for the state, but I'm guessing the state does not want to have the violations they know will occur when people "can't" tell the difference.

I have never seen both doves together or even in the same time period, so can not say how hard it is to differentiate them.

I wonder how much of their spread is based on human intervention, though a lot of different birds, animals are spreading on their own.

IL is always late to the table. In this case when they finally realize collard doves aren't healthy for IL, it will be too late for the mourning doves. We have always had mourning doves in our yard. In fact so many they became a problem like pigeons. Sitting under the open skylight, pooping on everything. I hated them. Dont particularly care for their call either. However, this past year the numbers started dwindling when the much larger collards showed up. Man i can't wait ti retire and leave this messed up state.

In my limited experience, the Collard Dove is about 25% larger than the Mourning Dove (even in the afternoon). The ECD is more sand colored and has a raspy call when compared to the smooth cooo'ing of the Mourning Dove.
