Ernest Rowe FX Crown Hammer Kit

This is just the basic hammer tune kit.

Looking to see how fast I can get 21gr pellets going through my Crown 22 with 500mm barrel.

Doing this while I wait for the Slug-X liners to get here. I'll post some pics along the way. And hopefully do some chronograph this evening.

Let the games begin !!

That kit sure comes with a bunch of allen wrenches. Only 2 sizes?

Bob, if your are keeping the same regulator pressure while testing, you need to set your hammer spring preload to min even with the slide bar adjustment screw.

while testing you want your max speed on max on the power wheel by adjusting the slide bar adjustment screw D5. If you don’t you will be wasting air—— > like the speed max out on #3 but you had it on max and most likely the speed will be lower at max.

If you just installed the weight, spring and mod HSTA and made no other adjustments most likely your max speed will be at the lower setting on the PW.

Ok the weight gives you 2 options:

1. Exceed the limitations of the stock spring in using higher regulator pressure.

2. Minimizing excessive sprng preload for easier cocking when using lower reg pressure.

Thank you Ernest.

Yes, I shortened the adjustment screw length before putting the hammer wheel back into place because the addition of the hammer weight effectively lengthened it.

Then I started tuning from hammer wheel on MIN. Here are two charts, one with reg at 150bar with 21gr pellets and the other with reg at 140bar with 18gr pellets. I ended up with hammer wheel on C for 150bar setting and 2 for 140bar setting. Any higher on the wheel just gave lower velocity as expected.

I was over 950fps with the 18gr pellet at 150bar, so I should be able to get 930fps easy with the 19gr slugs once my liner gets here.

I might adjust the screw shorter so the hammer wheel will fall on MAX for my current position C, not tonight though. Besides, it won't hurt anything for it to stay on C being I'm the only one who shoots it and I know that is where "MAX" is even though it doesn't show that.

Biggest improvement was in feel and sound during the shot.....the Chrono charts are also impressive. The rifle feels smoother during the shot cycle, and the sound of the shot is noticeably more efficient. I don't know if it's better to have the valve get hit with a heavier hammer a little slower, or a lighter hammer a little faster.

Either way, thank you for the kit Ernest.....I'm very happy with my rifle.

Yep, just 5 fps.

No, my slug liner is 500mm.

I looked into getting a 600mm sleeve so I could make that barrel with a 600mm liner, but it's not possible to get the parts individually.

I was told I'd need to buy a 600mm Impact barrel kit. Not going to consider that until after I see how the lighter slugs perform for me.

The gun does feel and sound a lot better....sort of hard to explain beyond that.

Other mods might be necessary to get more power. I didn't go over 150bar per the manual.

Ernest is working on a full power tune kit for the Crown. This was just the basic kit that was recently put on hold. I asked for it anyway, knowing it may not provide a whole lot.

I'm very happy with my Crown. Every little bit I can get out it helps. This was a relatively inexpensive drop-in custom kit.

I might not be able to get much more from the shorter barrel.
