Anyone who has ever watched an episode of Hogan's Heroes remembers the opening credits and the German Guards holding Erma MP40 machine guns. They are iconic and synonymous with the word machinegun. Did you know that they have a connection to the world of airguns?

Meet the Erma ELG10. It's the only airgun Erma ever produced and was carried by the Beeman line for a couple of years back in the early 80s.

These rifles are a single stroke lever action rifle. The lever cocks and the breech opens. There weren't very many sold as they cost as much as a much more robust R1.

These rifles are perfect for plinking indoors as they are relatively low powered at around 600 fps and they are very quiet.

Less than 100 of these ever made it to US shores so they are few and far between. A good working model will easily fetch 1k. It's the overall quality of the rifle that is the draw. It looks and feels like a Winchester 1894.

So, if you ever come across one of these German beauties, remember the pedigree it comes from. It's truly a piece of gun making history.

Actung baby!
