Edgun USA - new digital gauge

I had the pleasure to meet Tony with Edgun USA here in Jacksonville, Fl. He installed my digital gauge for me. Yeah, I could swing the cost of the gauge vs. a new R5. Looks awesome on my R3M with the soft touch stock. He’s a great guy and allowed me to pick his brain about our wonderful Edguns.

Wow, zombie thread.

The EDMU gauge was not one of Ed's best releases. It provided some useful info but went through batteries like there was no tomorrow and the process to replace the battery (popping the front cover off with a syringe or high pressure air) was a P.I.T.A. that often led to damaging the weak solder points for the display and rendering the gauge useless. Some minor revisions were made to fix these issues but if you must go with a digital gauge, there are newer/better options available now (look into the SEKHMET gauges).

I got rid of that digital gauge on my Lelya. It was more hassle then it was worth. After 2 or 3 battery changes it started acting up. That thing went right to the trash. Hey, if it works for you, thats cool. It is cool looking. Once I found out that the same people make electronics for BMW I was like, "this thing wont last." Now I'm sure there are some who have had good luck with them out there.

Question: where is the battery stored and how easy to change it?

Jim

Stored under the display and total PIA to change without breaking things. Also the cover spins and isn't great in the cold.

The Sekhmet blows it away in every way.

Mmmm, wasn't THAT difficult to change the battery..!

Once so far in about a year and a half.
