Edgun R5M Standard .25 inbound. *It's Here!

Take this with a grain of salt as I’m the guy who cut a Leshiy in 1/2 😂.... but I would highly recommend not touching the reg in the R5M or Leyla. Adjust the HST to about what you want... and let her rip for a tin or 2. Ed sets these regs at 130 to make the system idiot proof. It’s when we idiots (me included) start messing with stuff, things can go south if you don’t know what you’re doing.

The Leshiy is a different story... so much flexibility... tuning reg, HST, and barrel for totally harmony... but the single cal R5M and Leyla, with Ed’s new regs, need no changes IMO.

As joe mentioned above, I’ve shot both the leyla and R5M Standard in .25 cal with no changes to reg from 525 - 900fps in both the 34gr MK2 and 25 kings. All flew perfect. I’ve shot rat sniper and H&N grizzly slugs too with varing success, but IMO... stick with pellets.

whatever you decide to do... at least shoot a couple tins before you do anything

Enjoy!!

Thanks tflats99. BTW, I really enjoy your YouTube channel. I know you tune your R5M Standard and Lelya to shoot the 34 grain JSBs' at a slower speed to catch pellet flight. I just wasn't sure if the Standard could get up to 900 fps with only HST adjustments.

Lol! to the above post! Congrads! You'll love it! I took a chance with my Lelya right before there were many reviews on the new R5 platform, and I'm VERY glad I did. The gun is more than I expected and worth every penny! I'll be buying another in the future. TFlatts99 is correct, don't touch the settings. The gun can easily preforms with more power and shot count than what are the official specs with the hammer spring adjustment, no need to do anything with the reg.

Thanks davidsng. The Leyla is still on my Christmas Wishlist.

For me the Baracudas come in second, but not a close second to the EDgun labeled 34s.

Does H&N offer the .25cal Baracudas in different head sizes?

Not sure. Tin just said 6.35 head size. I did not measure them. I just bought a ton of the EDgun 34s and stopped testing others. It is now all I shoot. I use them in the Lelya 2.0, R3M STD and the R5M Long. Great pellets!

I don’t think you can get 850 with only hst on the std, my long wouldn’t go higher than 880 but it has a longer barrel. Nevertheless I ended up shooting at 840, my 34gr mk2 jsb and EDgun pellets don’t like much more than that and I like the shot count I get from 250b I get around 60-65 shots. If I had the std I would shoot the 25gr at about 850-900, great for hunting and shooting and not so bad air consumption

A tune at 850-900 on the 25gr will result in about 730-780 ish with the 34s. Looking at the trajectory, I’d go with the 34s. On a side note the system will also be much quieter with the 34s from my testing.

Clearly one can not go wrong with either tune. I have really been leaning towards the 34s the more I shoot and test them.

Glad you’re enjoying it! I just looked, and the string I shot out of the box in 34gr JSB (EDgun branded) was 890’s. I could be wrong, but Brian would be the one who would ultimately know. I made a promise to myself to just shoot it and not do anything to it (r5m and leyla). Both have performed so well... no reason to touch it l.

I have an R5M long and with the stock regulator setting of 125 bar they can shoot a maximum of 890 feet per second with the .25 mk2. Has anybody tried shooting them faster by changing the regulator pressure? According to a YouTube video by Gregor He suggests not shooting MK2 any faster then round 850 or so. Would shooting them faster between 920 to 950 be accurate within 50 yards? I tried shooting the JSB Kings at 950 and the groups opened up to over an inch at 32 yards.

I tinker. I probably tinker more than I need to because I see it as fun.

IMO the 34s are best pushed from EDguns at around 850. Too much hotter and they begin to wobble beyond 100. That’s just what I see. I promise you they do not need to be shot that fast to impress. I am shooting them from My Lelya at 770 and they fly amazing.

I am going to try the Ratsniper slugs from the Long. I’ll push those pretty hard. I’ll post results.
