Edgun R5M Standard .25 inbound. *It's Here!

I just placed an order for an Edgun R5M Standard in .25cal from Brian at Edgun West. I also ordered an extra clip and a Huma analog gauge in case the EDMU electronic gauge gets wonky on me. I've been saving up for this bad boy since the beginning of summer this year and decided to Christmas myself. I just hope it doesn't get lost in the Christmas mail rush.

Anyways, I also ordered a tin each of JSB 25.4gr, Air Arms branded (JSB) 25.4gr and Predator Polymags from Straight Shooters Precision Airguns. Is there any other pellets worth considering? I've never owned an airgun in .25cal.

Very nice, Merry Christmas Peskadot671 I'm sure your going to enjoy it even more having to work and save for it. BTW those 34gr JSB's shoot pretty good out of my impact.

Thanks Sonny. Merry Christmas to you too. Not sure if I could get the 34 grains up to speed without swapping the regulator to a Huma. Does anyone have experience between the 34gr MK1 and MK2?

I would also recommend you try the EDgun labeled 34s. I now shoot them in the Lelya in it’s stock configuration. They fly slower, but have almost the same trajectory and retain more energy due to the higher BC. The sound of the shot is a little different as well.

From posts on this forum, it seems they are stable out of the EDgun LW barrel anywhere from 530 to 925. That is a ton of flexibility to tune for your style of shooting.

You don’t need the huma reg for more power, you can adjust the factory one up to 135b and get more power (std is 125b). I don’t find the huma to be better than the factory one, I’d rather spend that money in pellets. The edmu isn’t going to fail, maybe you need to change the battery at worst, I keep one in my gun case together with a toothpick and a syringe. It can fail at first because they experienced a very cold weather but once you change it, it will last for a long time

Thanks for the info. Just to be clear, the model I ordered is the R5M Standard. Not the Long. I know the Long is better suited for the 34gr JSBs'. If you were talking about the Standard, then this is definitely some good news. If I could tune the Standard to shoot the 34gr between 850 fps minimum to 880 fps with the factory regulator, I think it would suffice although I know shot count might suffer.

I'll definitely give them a try when they become available. What speed are you shooting the 34's out of the Lelya?

First ask yourself if you cal live with this trajectory?

That is at 770 fps.

I have also retuned to 855 fps on my R5M Long. It has the Huma reg/plenum and is capable of lots more energy, but I don’t see the point after lots of shooting and testing. I will give a power tune a go after slugs arrive.

That's about the same trajectory as my Daystate Huntsman Regal .22 shooting 18.13gr at 850 fps and I'm totally fine with it. This is getting better and better. Thanks for the advice.
