Edgun R5 Matador Video of 250 Yards Shooting Cans, Unrealistic or Reality ?

Well, folks I want your honest opinion if this is over hype of marketing being done for the EdGun R5 matador? I have been looking for the ultimate long distance airgun. As of now, I have pressed users on information about Bullet Shooters, big bores, and any type of airgun that shoot past 100 yards with accuracy. Up to this point I have yet to find any one solution that works well due to wind and power restrictions of air usage.

I do have an R5 from edgun west on Pre-Order but I want to know your honest opinions if you feel other guns are just as capable of doing this ? The video mentions somewhat windy conditions and shooting Soda Cans out to 250 yards. I know there are alot of FX shooters getting good distances. My limitations seem to be about 110 yards with no wind with my FX impact. 250 yards is an extreme distance in my opinion and to do this multiple times seems crazy good. You can see my other posts about bullets shooters and accuracy with very small response, people just are not shooting them enough that I seen a huge difference in accuracy at long distance. So we are back to pellet driven airguns. Is this video setting up unrealistic expectations? This is the first video on the page at the very end of the video. It is about 29 mins just skip to the end to see it.

Hi jaydog,
I own a R5 .30cal that I bought from EdgunWest. Brian is very honest and sincere gentleman. I've purchased three Matadors from him and every time he's all ways answered my questioned in a very helpful and professional manner. He's an air gun guy just like all of us but very passionate and eager to help you out. The video you saw of the R5 .30cal shooting cans at 250 yards is amazing. Edguns are built like a tank, made to be used in the field. My R5 .30 shoots 44grain Edgun pellets at 910 fps. Yea the R5 .30 rocks and to me worth every penny. I think you made a great choice and you won' be disappointed.

SoCalEdgun. Yea I have ordered from Brian a few times. I have my edgun Leshiy and it is a great little gun. I have modified it to be a special .177 14.5 FPE at 50 shots. Great little squirrel and bird gun with a good shot count. I hope I did not come off wrong with questioning Brian's video. I just want real expectations. I ordered the edgun r5 super Long by the way. Hopefully in the next few weeks it will arrive.

That said, what are you getting for groupings past 100 yards ? Have you ever tried long distance shooting ? What do you feel is the BC of those pellets?

Cool jaydog,
I haven' grouped my R5 .30 at 100 yards yet but I blew a crow to smithereens at 122 yards and all I saw was a puff of feathers and the crow fell straight down motionless to the floor hehe. I know you weren't trying to emplye anything negative here it' s all good my friend. Now I use Edgun pellets in all my Matadors. The pellets are made by JSB to Ed's standard's and the dyes are owned by Ed. The Edgun pellets in my opinion are more consistent in weight and head diameter. They are longer and have thicker skirts than the JSB's so you can really push these pellets harder and they are very accurate. Now I also shoot JSB's and all my Edguns love them but the Ed's cost less and are every bit as good if not better than the JSB's in my opinion, they work for me. Pickup a tin or two and give them a try.

Forsure it's possible, this is at 220 yards with a Royale. An Edgun .30 should definitely be possible. Outdoor range paper is wet from a pretty heavy rain.

MY R5 .25 arrives tomorrow,,,i plan on doing some long range shooting so i will definitely chime in once i put it through its paces. The R5's in .25 are tuned down .30's with a heavy hammer and 3mm valve and will shoot the 34grn heavies over 1000fps.I don't doubt that it will be able to shoot well at longer ranges at all.

Brians videos from Edgun West are first class very helpful and thought out videos. He has answered all my questions in a very timely fashion and has been a joy to work with since i pre ordered my R5.Top notch guy helping to bring a great product to us and support when needed.

I would like to see how some of these R5's do against the competition at Extreme Benchrest.I would think the Long and Super Long would be able to hold its own on long range shooting.

@ Glenn, that's pretty good shooting there buddy, the Royal is a well made quality gun with a proven track record.

@Kdog that' great man your going to love your R5, it' a beast of an air gun. Can' wait to hear your report in regards. Brian is a class act, I'm waiting for the new side lever Matadors to come in next month. I' getting one in .25cal.

@SoCal,,,,,Congrads I will be looking forward to your review and comments of the R5m,,,,,I really enjoy single shot shooting and the R5 was just what i was looking for in a high powered .25 thats built to last. This R5 will join my other single shots,,Steyr LG110 .and RAW TM 1000 both in .177 for FT shooting.Of course the R5 will be my long range shooting and hunting rig.
