EDGUN R5 30 CALIBER WITH THERMAL WITH SLUGS

Hi today Titus and my wife had to work at trap shooting range , I decided to bring the EDGUN R5 with My ATN 5x50 thermal , and sight in so I put thermal on took some aluminum foil tape they use for HVAC and put a t on my target , I fired 1 shot and did 1 shot zero at 100 yards and then fired off 5 shots as fast as I can using my 52 gr slugs ,

WOW 1 shot ZERO AND READY FOR BATTLING COYOTES , So you take a shot then you go into menu and go to zero reticle , then you move cross hair from center to POI and hit save , and it works fine , this was first group with this gun after a 1 shot zero ,

OK so for you who dont know a thermal scope picks up a heat image and then uses a like computer and puts it on a screen to see it , well during a 90 degree hot day with sun beating down , when everything is same temperature , so to make a good usable target , foil tape on paper put at a 5 % angle stands out very well as it is same temp but has a light reflection sane as a heat signature ,

Last year I used a digital night vision to coyote hunt with this gun , this year I have a ATN THOR HD Thermal and boy it works well , Last night I went out and was looking for cows in a field which was like 1000 yds from road I saw 11 deer crystal clear , This thing is so much better then NV at long distances here is target for my EDGUN 30 CALIBER AND THERMAL ON GUN

So they don’t make the r5 30 cal. any more ? I don’t see them available on the EDgun sight.

From what I recall, all the R5s' in .30cal to include the Standard, Long and Super Long were all limited editions. Hopefully Ed comes out with a repeater in .30cal. The R5M .30cal.

Only 407 of them made of the limited edition

I will film some hunts , I forgot to set date here but here is daytime looking at wife and Titus like close range 40 to 90 yards

this unit does record with sound on recoil and has features to save unlimited rifles , it also has a built in range finder and also has a ballistic computer which can interface with a kestrel and or gps and automatically adjust for conditions , I have not tried this yet or evn verified it with a final firing position , the literature says it can detect a human at 2500 yards , I do believe it can see this , The key to using it is 1 NUC lens meaning cover lens and reset it with no light entering lens , and very fine focus like if were a rifle scope , the Diaptor is very easy to set , as the unit has widgets and or a inclometer like a scope bubble in degrees so basically you adjust diaptor till the writing is crisp , then you adjust like the Parallax or focus to get image from blurry to crisp , the adjustments are very small so a tiny bit of adjustment can focus from 100 yards to 200 yards , this is an adjustment that is strictly manual , it has automatic or manual adjustments for contrast or bightness or other levels , and it has like 10 reticles and 8 colors then it has like 5 thermal colors ,Now it has 2 zoom ranges 5- 20 and 5-50 which is software zoom , I personally use 5-20 as like any optic too much magnification can zoom on abnormalities , I think this is a great tool nothing can hide lol unless it is behind a piece of glass .

I stumbled upon a really easy way to zero with the Thor 4 I have... shoot into a tree. It lights up from the heat transfer.

The other option is to fill a tin with duct seal (clay basically) and shot into that. It does the same thing, and guaranteed not to bounce off

The pellet heats up from the energy of the impact, and will basically glow. You short the first one, and then use that as your POI for a second.

with 2 shots I zero’d and I’m hitting rats in the head at 25 yards
