Very interesting results. Did you remove all of the choke from the barrel? How much did you actually remove and did you have to modify any of the guns other parts? Judging from your targets it doesn't seem you lost any accuracy and you gained FPS? Be interesting to see how it will shoot Slugs now also?

how much did you cut? the chokes are over 1 1/4 inch so where barrel is tensions there is only 1/3 of an inch you could of cut with out shortening the guns round moderator tub infront of tensioning nut , did you actually remove choke ? . I have made barrels unchoked for these in 22 to 30 calibers ,

I found in all my R5 guns the 25 caliber is a bit tighter then most but not the 22 or 30 caliber , my R5 super mag choke was very tight as well , shot pellets great with slugs it didnt do as good as others .

Looks like he cut the barrel and shortened the shroud.

Not sure how the R5 or R5m are put together but I know for a fact the R3's barrels are a tension barrels and they must be at an exact length for them to be assembled. I installed a .22 LW barrel on my R3 and part of the problem I had was making sure the barrel was the exact length at the OEM barrel

Same situation with the R5(M)s. You’d have to cut-down the shroud, used for tensioning against, the same length as the barrel was cut from the barrel. 

Ah I got it. After looking at the gun, it makes sense now. Not sure if i would go that route unless I knew I could get another shroud from Brian.

Don't know about the shroud but the barrel is $275 smakeruesssss

I made a new one, same ID and OD but shorter

Mikepr Sorry my MISTAKE bad memory Thought where the nut tightens against was attached to the shroud I see its a separate piece one day I'll have to tear into mind to be more familiar with it
