Edgun Leshiy info and tips for new user

Like mtnghost said some more info would be helpful. Some general tips for offhand shooting though would be to buy some sort of grip. It can be a basic vertical/angled grip just something to help get a firm hold on the gun. I personally use this https://www.mid-evil.com/product/picatinny-360-vfg/ I like it how it can change to various positions. You can sometimes find them for sale around the web. Also you should look into a shoulder buttplate extender like this https://www.carm-magazines.com/carm-edgun-leshiy-butt-extension.aspx . I was hesitant at first but it has made offhand shooting much easier since I can have more in contact with the gun.

Mods? Lots of pellets, I use edgun branded jsb .25, or polymag, a magpul front grip, good rings (I use high mount warne rings), a good scope and a scope level. The leshiy is high modifiable, but for me, the stock configuration is good enough for me. For me the leshiy is a true backpack hunting carbine. You can add the longer barrel, the trigger mod some people do and much more. I do wish I could get the Akula moderator. Maybe just blast that leshiy? The best mod for me would be good nice clear optics. And a good bag and front grip. The leshiy for me bagged more pests than any other pcp I have, but it was my second pcp, but I used it heavily.
My first pcp was a daystate renegade hp .303, I shot a bird, a

turkey, and then realized it was too loud and too big. The leshiy was my sole pcp squirrel catcher for almost 18 months. I still love the size and carry it around the woods.

Also, if size isn’t a issue, get the longer barrel from edgun. If you can find an Akula moderator, get one. Check out eaglevision.com or donnyfl. I don’t like the dual air tube setup, it tends to leak. If you have money itching to be spent on kind of useless mods, GET THE EDGUN OPTIC! The fixed 6 power. Everyone rave about it. Oh yes, also ditch the edmu if you can, put a huma gauge in.
The body bottle, I don’t know. But the edgun fills up to 300 bar, I never go that high. It’s a hunting carbine, don’t treat it like a bench rifle. Get some polymags and waste some rabbits and squirrels. Also, check out edgunleshiy not sure, but he puts out the best videos on hunting. He sold me on this little gem.

If you do upgrade the grip understand there are two versions of the Stephen Brown grip. I believe the current SB grip is smaller than the original.

Mine came with what I believe is the original and it looks a feels great but is slightly uncomfortable after shooting for a while.

I had a friend 3d print the AR grip for me and it's what I'm sticking with since I shoot with my 10 and 11 year old boys. If it were just me using it I'd probably look for a current generation SB laminated grip. The stock grip is uncomfortable for me with my pinky finger folded under the grip.

If you want a bipod make sure to find one that allows you to fold up the gun with it attached. I have a carbon fiber Rugged Ridge that I've tried in a few different positions. I prefer it far forward on a lower rail extension but it throws off the balance when needed to take a quick shot offhand. My current configuration is to have it mounted without the lower rail and as far back as possible and the legs angled further forward.

There is a AGN member with a name like MMAHoney that started a thread on Leshiy bipods.

I've tried a couple of different spring plunger screws for the trigger mod. The lightest spring was great but seemed to have not quite enough travel. I had it dialed in and really liked it but then the next day the Leshiy wouldn't cock without adjusting it. Switched to a another one with a heavier spring and longer travel and it's much less fussy to get dialed in but I don't like it as much as the lighter spring. I have less than 200 shots on the trigger mod and I'm not sure about it. If the Leshiy becomes only a pest and hunting rifle I'll likely switch back to the stock trigger setup. If I continue to use it as my primary bench rifle I'll probably fiddle with the trigger mod some more.

I have the STO insert and really like it when used with a 22 barrel.

I just installed a 177 barrel yesterday and have it shooting around 12 FPE but there is quite a loud crack with it. My perception was that the HST was a bit high so maybe it won't be so bad once I get that dialed in. I might have to switch back to 22 for the summer chipmunk season. I knew 177 would be louder than 22 but I was surprised at the difference.

I'm sure you'll get a variety of answer, so here are some of my upgrade preferences:

Huma Reg - not critical, but gets you a bit more efficiency and shot count.

Extra Air Tube - specifically the DrozdPCP one if you can get through with and order from Russia. Apparently I was lucky and got 2 pretty easily. Some will say they are leaky - I say they don't know wtf they are doing with the install. My two installs have been 100% leak free since day one - how, a generous lube up of the o-rings with 1000 weight silicon oil. This helps them stay healthy longer and also swell up a bit with the silicon to produce nice tight seals. Not only will this upgrade double your shot count it will also lower the rear of the stock 1 inch to compensate for the stock lowering parts other speak of above.

Grip - whether you decide to go the 3D printed AR style route or a custom wood grip by Steven Brown it helps your grip tremendously.

Pellet Holder - several different options out there. I like how the Huma Leshiy pellet dispenser has a more professional look that the other 3D printed option. It just kinda goes with the clean lines of the gun for me. Wish they made one in .30!

Moderator - really depends on how quiet you need to make the Leshiy. The stock moderator and extension for 350mm barrel do a decent job. The one from DonnyFL works a bit better. I use a 350mm barrel and I like the DonnyFL adapter for 350mm barrels that allows you to use any standard 1/2"x20UNF moderator. I use a Huggett Astille .177 with no extensions on my .177 350mm barrel and it's VERY quiet even pushing 13.4 gr JSB pellets close to 900fps for ~23fpe.

Scope is whatever works for you. The Dedal Stalker is amazing if you are okay with 6X. Some of the compact 3-12 FFP scopes work nicely.

Front Grip - I really like the PTS Fortis Shift Short grip. Excellent option for a solid front hand hold. And one of the fews grips that still allows the leshiy to fold properly.

Happy customizing!!!

One tip - if you start to approach the mechanical limits (definitely not the tuning limits) of the Leshiy it becomes a bit of a 4lb beast. The force on the hinge will start you pulling to the left. At high power settings I recommend pulling the Leshiy in tight with the forehand and a very light grip on the trigger.

Oh - trigger upgrade. Just don't do it. It's such an amazing single stage trigger. Just enjoy it as is.

Thank you guys, the responses I got are way more and better than I expected.

I have a few questions about these tips. But first I need to be able to operate the gun at it's bare and original settings.

The goal is to have a packable airgun to shoot small game, hence the Leshiy. The second step is to fill it's tank with a buddy bottle. To fill the buddy bottle I am buying a compressor.

1-Now, what pressure must the buddy bottle have to fill the Leshiys tube to the max? I am talking about a 18cu bottle

2-ctshooter : when you say extra tube, how those extra tube are going to help? I cannot fill up 2 extra tubes at home and put them in the backpack and swap in the field, can I?

2-Pretty sure he means adding a second air tube to the Leshiy. Two tubes on the same gun at the same time for increased capacity/shots. It’s been done before.

Hello Dino,

I don't think anyone has addressed your specific question about the fill pressure. It can accept up to a 300 bar fill which is around 4400 PSI and the Leshiy regulators are set somewhere between 110 and 125 bar which is 1600-1,800 PSI. Any fill above the regulator pressure will work. The more pressure you give it, up to 4400 psi, the more shots you will get before you no longer have enough pressure for the regulator to meet its set point.

I definitely recommend polishing the barrel. First with a nylon bristle brush and JB bore paste, followed by a cotton Jag and a metal polish such as flitz or simichrome.

I went to makeXYZ.com and printed the AR style grip which I find to be far superior than the original. I think you can search for Leshiy AR grip to obtain the STL file needed for the 3D printing. Edgun West.com may still have it on his site.

I highly recommend getting the 350 mm barrel and moderator extension for maximum air efficiency if you are happy with the extra length. I find the factory moderator to be just fine but the POI is sensitive to the slightest shift in the baffle insert and torque on the retaining ring.

As mentioned above regarding the second air tube, it is an additional air tube to increase the overall capacity.

In terms of fill pressure and volume - as Feinwerk mentions above you can fill to any level above the regulated pressure (which is 130bar the way the gun comes). It's not likely you will ever get a full 300bar fill. If you have a small buddy bottle each fill from it will top off at a lower pressure. So first fill you might get to 260 bar, second you might see 240, then 220, etc. The bigger the fill bottle the slower it will lower its own pressure with each fill. This is why many people go with larger 6 or 9L cf bottles - you get more high pressure fills per bottle.

Or you could go with a hand pump. The air tube is small enough it wouldn't be too bad to pump up.

I should add that after trying 177, 22, and 25 calibers, I find the best all-around to be the 22 caliber in 350mm barrel, using the jsb 14.3 grain pellet. I am using the swfa 3 - 15 x 42 ffp scope with mil quad moa reticle, a picatinny rail extension, an atlas bipod, and a utg folding grip with Allen wrenches inside. The pellet pouch is a Crosman brand with velcro closure that wraps right around the air tube and adds balance and mass. The extra mass of all the accessories helps smooth out the jitteriness of such a short gun.

I have learned to control and like the single stage trigger as is. With practice, you can pull it partially and then complete the shot with a quick snap for hunting, or just pull through slowly for paper punching.
