Edgun Leshiy breach locking problem

Brand new Edgun Leshiy 0.177 from airgunheaven, the breach swing open with every shot and I can see drag marks (center to left) from valve stem on the end of the hammer shaft, surely not good thing, might break the valve stem over time

The barrel is a hair under flat to the receiver
The o-ring seems to be the right size
The roll pin is in a fixed position, can't be the problem
The tip of the plunger protrudes 3.5mm from the receiver and the spring seem strong enough
When I place a 1mm shim of plastic at the right edge of the receiver the latch will not engage so I guess the grind of the tip is wrong, but surely it's machined not hand made or...?

Anyone else experienced this problem? - should I try to fix it, contact Edgun or send it back

..and the EDMU was dead on arrival, dismounted the battery, checked the voltage, was ok, mounted a new one, still dead

Send it back. For such a simple platform that is to many issues. Personally I feel that every Edgun should be tested before being shipped out considering the price. The barrel issue would be an easy fix. It just sounds like the set screws for were not tightened enough and the barrel slid some. As far as the breach opening up. There was a video where a guy was shooting larger cal pellets long before they released the bigger barrels. His breach was pooping open slightly with every shot. Who knows. Make a phone call then send it back.

I have owned a Leshiy for half a year. When I first got my first one it came with some manufacture marks over the air tube, like it had been dinged up when put together. Originally I thought I just got a rough one, so I returned it and got another. When I got my second one sure enough that one had some manufacture marks too, but this time over the folding hinge. I contacted Brian from EdGun west and he said that all EdGuns have some manufacture marks or defects, and to basically get over it if I wanted to own an EdGun. The gun grouped well at 23 yards so I decided just to keep it. Basically Edgun doesn’t care about any aesthetic defects as long as they shoot. It sounds like you got one of the poorly put together Leshiys. I would just recommended if you are adamant about getting a Leshiy to just return it and hope the next one was put together better.

Thanks, I guess I will have to send it back then, I think the overlap between the roll pin and spring loaded plunger is too short and a fix could be to grind the right hand side of the plunger a bit back, wont go down that road on a brand new gun

Sorry, did not make myself clear about the barrel, just wanted to point out that this is not cause of the problem, not adding any additional pressure to the locking system

Not a scratch on mine so in that sense I was lucky - if only It would show the pressure and not spring open for every shot - my right ear is still ringing from the blast...and yet I must own a Leshiy - Its a thing of beauty!

Maybe I should ask airgunheaven for spareparts, a new EDMU, plunger and spring and change it myself, I know my way about mechanics

The decision is up to you as to what route you would like to take. I understand the deep desire to own a Leshiy. Originally I contemplated returning the second one too and going with something similar like the ataman carbine. However, the stout build on the leshiy plus the pellet on pellet accuracy I was able to achieve at 23 yards when I have the right hold made me decide to keep it. I ended up covering the punch marks with some carbon fiber vinyl wrap and now its out of sight out mind. If they are willing to give you spare parts, you can find videos on yt from edgun about stripping and assembly of the gun. Maybe you could call/email Brian from edgun west and ask about the gun popping open, he could probably give you a good idea as to whats wrong and how to fix it.

Hmm sounds familiar, just recently purchased a Leshiy from edgun west ( A+ communication and super fast shipping ) when I enquired about the gun and prior to receiving it. Got the gun and was really excited to shoot it. Noticed the first night it dropped 30 bar , Gave him a call about it leaking and right away started saying it’s not leaking it’s from a temp change ? Never even gave me a chance to explain anything I shoot from my heated barn and bring my guns back in my house to my safe. Do realize there’s fluctuations in pressure in temp changes , but not that much and in my conditions. Pretty much told me, his exact words,‘“ there’s sometimes 250 bar guns and sometimes 150 bar guns” ??? Huhhh, wasn’t sure what was meant by that , maybe some guns only hold to 150 bar and others hold pressure at 250. Idk., anyways I decided to order a O-Ring rebuild kit from him. Mind you I’m not claiming to know everything about PCPs but have owned them and many others for the last 25 yrs of my life, and like everyone with any new gun it’s always a learning curve figuring out the ins/outs of each gun. He did install a Huma reg for me and did say it could possibly leak after he sends it to be fair, what he didn’t say was there was going to be no support and pretty much suck it up like you experienced. I emailed the next day stating it’s still leaking and haven’t heard anything back since. Also emailed him with a pic of a pretty serious score in the finish from one of the set screws , that i absolutely did not do, looks like it was worked on before or from the factory like that. Someone obviously didn’t turn the set screw back in before attempting to fold the stock.

After reading up on possible leak areas, found it with soapy water

no matter how many times I replaced the O-Rings on the huma reg it continued to leak. Turns out the reg had a nick in the area the O-Ring sat and caused the leaks. Leak is repaired , the scratch in the finish I took a marker so it’s not so visible. The EDMU also died on me within 2 days ended up being the battery, didn’t like the electronic gauge so replaced it with a wika that is more my style. Also contacted Ed through private message and he replied back promptly and asked who I purchased the gun from and told him. Haven’t heard nothing back yet after letting him know that was about a week ago. So maybe I should of said I purchased it from someone else idk. So if you expect perfection from edgun or from certain dealers you better do your homework and if after purchase dealer help is important do even more homework. Now I have read many ppl having the best experiences with same dealer and manufacture, idk, this is just my experiences I had.

Now the good , if you have the patience to work through some of the issues of these guns I know my Leshiy is probably one of my most favorite guns I own right now. I purchased the 350mm barrel for mine and it’s a match made in heaven. This is no joke 50 yrds all day long under 1” groups , 75 constantly under 1 1/2” groups. For this small of a gun I didnt expect such great performance. I shoot the 25.39gr JSB at approx 778fps avg and get a good 20 shots with the huma installed. I absolutely love this little compact gun. So easy to change calibers. It likes to be held tight when shooting and has a nice little quiet thump when fired

Stick with the Leshiy and things will get worked out in the long haul, it will be worth it for the small compact package it is. Good luck with yours.

This is in no way trying to badmouth Edgun, but they just have a different mentality about airguns. They view them as tools. Brian told me something along the lines of "your expecting the gun to be like a ferrari, but the gun is more like a tank". That basically describes Edgun in a sentence. Ed makes guns that are meant to be used in the field, which inevitably means they will collect marks and wear so he doesn't care if they come out the factory with some. Outside of the small marks on the finish that I covered with the vinyl wrap, my gun had no other problems. Like hunter4life said if you can work through any problems the leshiy is one of the best guns. I use it nearly every day due to its compactness and I love it.

I agree, the accuracy is amazing, I was able to force the breach shot by twisting the gun and shoot a 12 shot group of 17mm cc on my indoor distance of 32m (28.8 yards) - and this with old eyes through an Eotech Holo

Eotech and Leshiy is a match made in heaven IMHO, will post pictures later

Thanks for your encouragement, yes I must own a Leshiy for sure and would rather chose to repair it myself than risk getting a scratched up one

I love mine and will work on it myself, I have been shooting it and have had no problems yet. I just got it after Thanksgiving and immediately checked it over and filled it to 250 bar let it sit overnight pressure was fine the next day, so I loaded a pellet and pulled the trigger And all seems fine. Sometimes in my opinion there will be a couple oddities that should not have made it by quality control at manufactures but it does happen unfortunately. I agree customer service in some instances could be better but this day in age with the internet those issues get sorted out pretty quick. I do know Eduard owner of Edgun is up on the forums and does listen. It really is a great air pcp that is for sure.

Someone sent me this thread so I'll respond since Ed is away.

is just a weak spring behind the locking wedge. Simple fix less that five minutes, call Joost on Monday I'm sure he has the springs. It will be quicker to fix than to box it up.

Brian

Thank You for responding, I will get airgunheaven to send me the spring, found schematic and spare part number on edgun

Thank You guys for all your help!

Got a Hawke Airmax 3-7 X 32 mounted as an alternative to the Eotech - its a very close shave with Hawke Weaver High Mounts

To make the trigger two staged - did not have any 4mm spring pointed screw so did a trigger rubber mod, 3mm thick piece of 5 x 9mm rubber glued on the flat back side of the trigger

Works very well as you can see from the 40 yard 10 shot group - besides the rubber trigger mod and 3D printed grip nothing changed from factory and first pellet tried - we are very happy!

The EDMU was driving me crazy, required a very hard push to turn on, ad to that the cover was turning

So made a transparent and more flexible one from a soap dispenser bottle diameter 25,5mm works perfectly and now I can clearly see the switch and where to push, no it ain't water tight but neither is the original

..and printed a new grip in ABS brown just for fun, the filament used contains water and the vapor explosion when extruded from the hot nozzle leaves a strange surface but I kind of like it
