EBR Target Challenge

DC1D2362-57C2-4F55-9EAC-8E3BB19ADA31.1604273103.jpeg
First attempt at 100y with my 40gr slug setup.

7-9 mph wind from 1-3 o’clock.

Looks like a 242...despite the mini target in the middle. 😀

Hi Tommie,

I was just meaning that the gun is really accurate and easy to shoot. Far beyond pellets.

After yesterday, I had a good idea that it could do much better in calmer conditions. Looked outside and saw that it was fairly calm. Probably 1-3 mph. This is a 247 12x, but would plug as a 250. I was basically holding on the left or right edge of the ten depending on the wind. I shot the little one last...😀

Mike, I see the rifle in the picture was a single air tube. Can you share shot count? I'm sure you can shoot a whole card on one fill right? And power, fps etc? Freaking awesome!

Hi Jimmy, thanks. The gun pic was actually from last week when I was using a reg on the bottle and tethering. The bottle reg was not giving me the velocity spreads I wanted, so I went back to the dual plenum internal reg setup. I’m shooting a 40ish grain slug at 845-850 FPS. The reg is at 2400, and if I fill to 4000...I get about 35 shots.

Joe....that is my whole motivation for doing this. The Rimfire BR guys own all the accuracy real estate...and I would like to give them a run. In my opinion...it seems silly to continue trying to play an accuracy game with pellets when air rifles are perfectly capable of shooting slugs.

I teasing you and your gun is really accurate with those slugs. I was amazed at 242, until you posted a 247!

re. Your Rimfire comment above - we have quite a few .22 RF guys shooting at my 50/100 yard “sight in” outdoor range. I regularly alternate between air rifles and shoot two Anschutz BR RF gun’s ( 1464 MPR 64 action and a custom 1907 single shot 54 action). Both are very accurate at both 50 and 100 yard BR. Your 247 and 242 scores at 100 yards with an air rifle would ‘raise quite a few eyebrows’ with these guys. They all shoot competition except for me and you pretty much outshoot all of the RF guys with those cards.

In fact, those 100 yard scores are better than many of the 50 yard scores they show me with their .22LRs. Great shooting!

That's pretty sick for sure!!!! Sickness for distance, LOL. For the naysayers, Yeah I know only 100Y, but that's still a fair poke for a projectile going 850 fps.

Finally a worthy combo of slug and PCP air rifle you have there Mike!!!! What I mean is that there was no way in the world I was going to buy an air rifle to shoot slugs/bullets until someone figured out how to unravel the mystery that you evidently have which is consistent precision lacking the huge flyers that seemed to be present in most previous attempts by others. No cherry picking going on here man!

I'm so happy I put my deposit down when I did and am very excited to get my Thomas HP in a few months! Hey I just thought of the perfect name for my HP, I'm going to name it SURELY, lol. Cause it's "surely" going to get whatever task I need it for - done right!
