EBR Target Challenge

I was talking with @airsupply , Michael, and we thought it would be fun to start up an EBR Target type Challenge to go on at least until EBR, or for as long as there is interest. We've noticed over the past couple of years that while many "groups" have been posted, very few scores. I've been shooting scores online for a while, and so have the other Team Centercut members, and a few others. So here we go. Scoring inward as are almost all Benchrest Targets. We'll have categories by caliber and by pellets or slugs, so no plugging necessary. Label your targets at what distance (95 yard minimum), and which pellets/slugs and caliber. I'll post the "official" target here (I made the colors lighter so it easier to see the holes):

If you want a target without the Sighter matrix to save a little ink, this one is available:

There are five targets per card, and a sighter block. Shoot 5 shots into each target so you have a 25 shot card. As many sighters as you want. In order of fairness, if a hole "appears" to touch a line, then that will count for the higher score. Honor system supported. Add up and post your score on the card, and also post the way you scored as shown on my initial entry here (using an old version of the score card). Add up each five shot target so we can see how you came up with your score, and then add up those five for a total with the number of "X" on the card. These targets are as close to EBR 7 to X ring as I can get. The high scores for each category will be kept as a running tally below.

Feel free to post your score cards even if they don't get you to the top, they are interesting and I'm sure we'd like all to see.

With all the hype hysteria and brainwashing, EBR could go the same as RMAC... If someone gave a scenario of what has transpired a year ago...they would have been labeled as crazy and NO WAY that could happen..

That being said it gives another target to shoot at and that's a good thing.

Hey CC, sounds like a lot of fun! Is it going to be an enter once a week type deal, when we shoot an exceptional card or as often as we want? What are your thoughts on that?
Stoti

I'd say as often as you want, but try to post your best, and then when you beat your best, post that better one...

AGN @michael pinned the post to the top for us so it'll stay where it is. Thanks Michael!

FYI, here's my best one so far, but I'm not going to count it at the OP since the target is the "old" - old style... Bleu Wolf .22 RD Monsters. FYI, that 226 posted above is not my best so far with the new target format... ;)

Took 2 tries this morning with Thomas HP 22 shooting JSB slugs at 925. The other card was a 236 7x. I need to focus a little more and I think 240s will come. This actually mimics the precision of 25m somewhat...unlike pellets. I shot no more than 2 sighters per card. I waited for conditions and adjusted holds only on flag position when I couldn’t get the condition I wanted. Still...both cards were shot under 15 minutes each. I think this could possibly be competitive with Rimfire at 50y. I will try it when I get a chance.

Between the 2 cards I shot there were six 5 shot groups under .550” Center to Center.

5-8 mph wind

I wonder why those two shots hit so low in the right middle bull??? It'd be interesting if you used a chrono next time you shoot this to see if the fps is lower when shots hit lower.

Were these slugs swaged the slow way or were these slugs made on the new high output machines?

I just don't understand why it's so prominent that slugs have such big flyers that ruin groups??? I experienced the same thing when I shot slugs out of a RW.

Have you experimented with different lubricants yet?

Steve, I've got some chrono data from slugs and pellets for an upcoming write-up that is directly related to your question here. Very interesting and Ive been pondering on it for about 36hrs now. It only gets more intriguing the more I think about it. (Sneak preview, you're onto something, and I was able to capture it with a chrono and document enough aboutt about it to see some trends)

Steve, those were not flyers. They did what the should have. I just missed the wind. It was moving between 9:00 and 11:30. I shot both of those as if they were 9:00...but I did not see that the flags had flipped to 11:00. I have shot very little outdoor BR since 2016. I’m no where near being on top of things right now. This is precisely why I’m certain I could get into the 240s pretty quickly. If this target was plugged, it would already be in the 240s.

This setup has a pretty big slant. 10:30 L to R wind pushes the pellet down at almost 45 degrees. 9:00 pushes down around 20 degrees. 11:30 goes nearly vertical. The velocity spreads for 40 shots were around 10. Not flyers at all.
