EBR Target Challenge at 75 yards

So I had a few minutes after work to shoot a couple cards at 75. The wind was kind at 1-3 mph from the north changing east and west. I was shooting Jumbo MRD’s. The first card I used the same set up as @azrover uses with his Rock BR rest with a solid v-bag in the back and shot a 238. I only touched the trigger and nothing else. I misread the wind once and pulled an 8. The second card I shot a 236 using my Accutak bipod and the same v-bag.I had one bad pull, meaning my hold (tensioning) was not perfect and got that high left shot. The direction the cards are posted is the direction I shot them. Not sure rest or bipod is better than the other. Maybe since with a bipod one has to be really consistent with the hold.

Pretty nice cards here Sandy! That was an interesting experiment using just the trigger vs. your normal holds with the gun.

I know this might sound strange, but I enjoy holding my gun with all of the challenges of trigger, correct tension, holds, proper cheek weld pressure, rear bag holds, etc. vs. just using a trigger and nothing else touching the gun. I think you are correct that there is much more challenge in having a consistent hold with a bipod and rest for 25 shots per card vs. just using the "trigger" only technique. I guess more can go wrong than right, the more body parts are touching the gun. However, your scores were pretty close for these two cards anyway using both techniques.

As an aside, I don't know that I would enjoy the BR shooting as much if I had to just use my trigger only technique, but that's just me. I want to have all the challenges of holding the gun properly vs. just using the trigger.

There is a Center Fire guy that regularly shoots when I do, and he shoots this 'cannon' with just his trigger and while I understand why, I just can't get used to that for me personally.

Anyway, nice cards!

Tom

Got a chance to give this a try today. Nice weather with some light occasional wind.

I’ve never scored a target before. What do you guys think of the shot by the red arrow
I scored it a 9 but I put a pellet in the hole and it touches the line. I put the targets on some scrap particle board It definitely helped being able to double check behind the target.

If that one counts as 10 then it’s a 241. Pretty happy with that. I think some of the wind got me a little on that 3rd target but that last one was a dandy.

This was a lot of fun. I’ll definitely shoot a few more this weekend. I’ll have to put on the 700mm and try some 34gr’s.

The 380mm liner on this gun just seems to get better and better as it breaks in. It’s too bad the BC on the 25.4 Kings is kind of low they seem to open up a bit past 100yds. I’d love to see what that .280 group would have looked like at 100yds.

Very nice shooting, Mat ! Definitely a great first attempt!

Good to see a new shooter trying it. The shot you questioned is definitely a 10. It only has to touch... no white between the pellet or scoring tool and the line.

I shot a couple more while a friend was here for trigger service in fairly mild conditions... 1 to 5 mph headwind switching left and right. First was a 237 and thought I could do better and had a 241 on second from a bipod. 22 cal RW using Jumbo MRD's at 970.

Hi everyone

I have been shooting these targets at 100 yds. With medeoker results with a couple rifles using jsb 25gr rd.

So I thought I would try the Crown, it's not my favorite but it seems to shoot those pellets fairly well.

I shot these two targets yesterday in lite wind 2-5 the second target I took the time to get the flags out and it helped.

Got enough pellets to shoot one more card then I will have to wait until I can find some more somewhere.

Nice shooting Mike.

What Cal, barrel length and speeds are you shooting at?

I got a chance to shoot with my oldest boy this weekend. He brought his .22 Streamline but forgot his fill probe. So we each shot two cards with my gun. Damn kid out shot me both cards. He shot a 241 & 240 I shot 238 both cards. Don’t mind losing a bit. I really cherish the time together.

We tried one card w/34gr MKII and one w/MKI’s shot at 900fps with non superior slug liner. We both felt like the MKII’s shot better but the score cards showed pretty similar results.

Srtmat

I was shooting a Crown cont. 22cal. with a 700mm slugs liner shooting JSB 25.39gr.Redesigned at about 900fps.. I'm not sure about the speed I haven't checked for a while.

To me the gun doesn't shoot well off the bench but that's just me. I think I will have to try and work with it some more.

Checked the velocity a few minutes ago and it was running about 910 average.
