Ebay carbon bottles!

i've also been looking at the ebay bottles for another airforce bottle setup so will be following this thread. i was looking for bottles rated to 250bar, which would be a little lighter (i'm assuming), as i would not be filling up past that point.

other posts i've seen on this topic usually settle with ebay bottles are gtg.

I have been using the eBay CF bottles for a few months. Like you, I had some spare FX aluminum bottles with valves, swapped the valve over and all is good. Was able even to get a smaller volume & diameter bottle to convert my DreamLite Compact into a bottle gun without the bottle interfering with the fat shroud which is on that gun. 

No long term duration of use yet, but no issues whatsoever.

OTOH 580cc CF bottles from TalonTunes aren't that much more expensive, so I've bought a couple of those recently as well for air hungry rifles.

+1! Better to be safe than sorry. Another note is the eBay bottles are MUCH heavier than the FX version. I have the 300cc best fitting/eBay bottle. It’s heavier than my 480cc Fx bottle by 2 ozs. Only reason I’m still holding onto it is the slimmer profile for my dreamtac compact.

The Ebay CF bottles are less expensive because THEY ARE NOT "DOT" certified, which means you need to own your own compressor...no dive shop will touch them without the DOT certificate. Most of them have the CE certification which holds no validity in the continental U.S. They are all Chinese of course.

Shooters in other countries need to check their regulations prior to deciding whether to get the less expensive CE carbon fiber bottles.

Just pray local shooting clubs and gun ranges not gonna check out dated tanks and non DOT certified bottles and expired PCP airguns Like over 10 year air cylinders yet.

Are any of them DOT approved, I am looking at tanks from on line paintball stores ant they all say NON-DOT?

Someone here even went as far as to say you may get arrested and or have them confiscated transporting these non DOT certified tanks on public roads but IDK if that's all BS and only ALL TALK AND NO ACTION.

If its just a fine then no worries just pay it hope it doesn't get confiscated seized though. I have an AceCare Chinese 500cc bottle that's not DOT and afraid to use it.

What state do you live in? I thought mine would be the worst and I doubt anyone would care at a range much less out shooting on one’s property, of course no one would fill it but how can one shoot a PCP without owning a compressor.

Hand pump with filter?

Or have dive tanks filled at your dive shop.

I purchased a 580cc tank at Amazon IORMAN tank https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08G8GFP84/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and a FX tank Valve at https://ohioairgun.com/products/fx-bottle-valve. I save round $100.00 dollars buy doing it that way.The rumor is that with the two reg setup in the FX Maverick that you might be able to go to 300 bar in the future and these tanks are 4500 psi. I only fill to 250 bar!

Since we are talking about bottles for guns and not HPA tanks for filling guns, I doubt anyone takes their guns to a dive shop to get filled. Or, maybe I'm reading this wrong.?

I fill my own tank. If you look in to DOT certified it is US certification. It's a way for the dot to charge you more money to certify them. A CE / EN approved tank can be filled in the EU but a DOT certified tank can't. If the tank can be filled with EU certification I feel that I can go with that. It is up to the the buyer to make that decision.

I don't see you as being wrong. These tiny bottles are going on airguns and no one is bringing their airgun to a dive shop to have it filled (at least I hope not). I used a 200cc acecare bottle shipped from the US off eBay for a few months on my Leshiy 2 before getting a 350cc bottle. I have no issues with using a CE certified bottle. 

I own and use a CE 0.5 liter bottle and fill it to 4500 psi. I was a bit concerned when I first filled it, so, for safety sake, I held it at arms length and shut my eyes while the compressor ran! To my surprise and delight, it hasn’t exploded even once!

Sometimes you just get lucky! However, I don’t suggest you try this yourselves!

When I bought my Texan 257 LSS, , I purchased two .5l tanks, one from TalonTunes and a Chinese .5L 4500 psi one off ebay.

I tried both on the Texan, the TalonTunes tank was lighter and I was filling to 3600 psi not 4500 psi, so I used the TalonTunes tank.

The ebay tank sits in my man cave waiting for me to buy a ‘Value pack’ rifle that I can use it on. Meaning a tank gun with metal tank with the same FX/Airforce threads.

I recently purchased a 25 caliber Kratos and considered putting it on, but the Kratos shoots so well the way it Is, I just don’t want to change it, so the Chinese bottle just sits there, waiting and waiting.

When I think I can live through a trip to the UPS/FEDEX store, I will probably have one of those “cleaning out the parts” sale.

I am looking to get a 580cc bottle. If I were to go the route of ebay or Amazon, what are you guys doing to mount them on the FX guns without the FX bottle valve?



I know doing this would mean no removing the tank without degassing the bottle, but I own a compressor and fill tank so air is not a concern for me to refill, but I would like a 580 tank for my Maverick and can't swallow the price of the FX bottle after buying the gun. Lol.
