Easy Matador R5M 22 Question - Degas for gauge change

Hi All,

I'm in need of letting the air out of my R5M to change the gauge. I've seen videos of removing the air tube and "leaning" on the valve but I'd rather not take the air tube off the gun unless necessary.

The EDMU is dead so I can not tell what the reservoir pressure might be. Is shooting it down until velocity starts to drop off an option? Will it damage the valve/bushing in the back plug?

I run the gun with the HST at minimum and then increase 1/2 turn. (Back yard shooting 14.3 Crossman HP, still goes right through a steel food can @ 30 yards.)

Removing the tube is very easy and the best way to get about degassing the gun.

btw with the r5m can you adjust the valve spring on it to adjust the power like the hatsan guns

Loosen the screw for degassing its in the manual!!!! Change the battery! Vid on edgun west. And eds channel and manual for on resources tab edgun west....

Hi Uzidzit,

I received the gun new with a dead EDMU. Replaced the battery and it worked for a day. Dead battery again. It now has a nice Wika gauge. I did watch several videos from Edgun West on the topic. Seems there is more than one way to let the air out safely.

I have a Wika for my R5M. Can't stand the edmu. What are y'all using to get the gauge itself out of the pocket? I've seen the vids on degassing, but not on getting the gauge out.

Also, my gun refills very slooooooooowwwwwwwllllllyyyy. Like 1bar per 5 seconds. No, it's not the fill apparatus. I asked Brian about it and he said it's an adjustment and sent a link to the standard youtube. Nothing in there discusses changing the fill rate. I get the feeling I'm bothering him when I ask questions so I'd rather not.

If your battery died in a day, you shorted in install there should be a slip around battery pocket...but I digress

There is no pocket you just remove the collar under fill port cover... You un screw, and gauge is our in air.

Just replace the fill port o ring, it will fill normally again prolly debris in port
