Dragon Claw strikes again!

Love my Dragon Claw! This island buck cam in chasing a doe and I shot him at 15 yards. He made one leap, then walked 10 yards, stood looking around for 2-3 seconds, then fell over dead. The 250 grain Lee REAL bullet did fantastic.

Yes, I cast these from a Lee REAL 250 mold. The drop at 252 grains and I size them to .501. I was in a ladder stand.

Man you’ve got it! Casting your own slugs and owning a great gun producing more than enough power. Great shot. Thanks for sharing the photos. You have me over here looking through my slugs to see what I have that’s within regulations. I may have to bag one to put some venison in the freezer for the winter. Also I was wondering about those Lee molds. I’ve read some good things about them, but only know one airgunner who uses them. Have you had your mold long? Are they pretty good quality?

thats a good question, glad you asked him,....i was about to.

I'm not very experienced with casting, but my mentor is. We both like the Lee molds though. I cast these with a single cavity mold, and it's burdensome. I have only cast these twice so far, but have already bought a two cavity mold that I have yet to try. Both casting sessions I used a Lee pot to pour the lead. I probably dumped the first 8-9 bullets before everything was going smoothly, then it's steady pouring and dropping new pills.

From what I understand, the earlier rifles had a .495 bore, but mine is less than a year old, and is supposed to be .4985. Mine won't shoot anything smaller than .501. These Lee bullets drop with the smallest band measuring something like .504 and the largest .517. They shoot well, but require a good shove to get them into the chamber. The .501s load easy and shoot slightly better (1.5"@50 yards). My rifle also likes the T/C 370 grain maxi balls, which I think are around .504.
